NHL Picks & Pucklines Tonight
Will Maple Leafs Earn Rare Win In Pittsburgh?
Toronto will need to show the ability to beat teams like Pittsburgh while on the road to be considered among the favorites for the Stanley Cup in 2018. Two months into the 2017-18 NHL regular season, the Maple Leafs look like a solid candidate for a deep playoff run.
Last year, Ottawa nearly did what the Leafs want to accomplish this year, but a rough November has spilled into December, with the Senators plunging towards the bottom of the eastern conference standings. A west coast trip to California has exacerbated Ottawa’s losing trend, which may result in the Senators out of the playoffs when the new year rolls around.

Maple Leafs at Penguins - Bet Pittsburgh SU (-120)
Prior to the renaissance of the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Pittsburgh Penguins dominated this matchup, winning ten of twelve games between 2013 and 2015. After Matthews and the Leafs established themselves as a playoff team in December 2016, Toronto won two in a row, beating the Penguins in three of their last four meetings. However, the Penguins have one of the best home records in pro hockey, earning a 10-3-1 mark in Steel City. As such, Pittsburgh should be able to earn two points tonight.
Jets at Lightning - Bet Tampa Bay Puckline (-1.5, +160)
The Jets remain in the hunt for top spot in the Central Division, but a 5-4-1 mark over their last ten hints at a slowdown which will increase the distance between Winnipeg, the Predators and the Blues. Tampa’s struck for three wins in a row and six of their last ten, but the Lightning’s home record of 12-2-1 represents a tough trend for any team to defeat. Expect Tampa Bay to beat the puckline against a Jets team on a difficult road swing.
Senators at Sharks - Bet San Jose SU (-170)
Ottawa has won a single game over their last eleven matches, falling to second-last in the eastern conference. Since the Senators play in the Atlantic Division, they’re still only five points out of the playoffs, but coach Boucher’s crew needs to start turning up the quality of their play. This won’t take place on a tough west coast road trip which finishes in San Jose. Ottawa’s won six of their last ten against the Sharks, which makes a straight up wager on San Jose much less risky than the puckline.
Oilers at Canadiens - Bet Montreal SU (-160)
Cam Talbot, Adam Larsson and Andrej Sekera will miss Edmonton’s tilt in Montreal, ripping out the defensive heart of an Oilers squad circling the drain. Unlike the Canadiens, who operate in the Atlantic Division, the Oilers play in the competitive Pacific Division, where extended slumps can quickly relegate teams out of the post season. Montreal has improved vastly since the return of Carey Price, helping the Habs regain a foothold in the east. The Canadiens are one of the worst teams against the spread, so wager straight up instead.
Canucks at Flames - Bet Calgary Puckline (-1.5, +170)
Bo Horvat’s broken ankle couldn’t arrive at a worse time for the Canucks. Vancouver was in the thick of the hunt for a playoff spot, but they’re likely going to slip without one of their most valuable young forwards. Calgary has won six of their last ten meetings against the Canucks, and each of those wins have been by two or more goals. As such, the Flames puckline appears to offer a superb opportunity for boosting the payout on a Calgary wager.
Dirty Dangle Of The Night
Pittsburgh Penguins Beat Puckline Against Toronto Maple Leafs (-1.5, +215)
The Leafs aren’t an easy out for any team in the NHL, including the defending champs. Pittsburgh hasn’t performed well against the spread this year, but a +215 puckline will more than double your initial wager this evening. During their last seven wins against the Leafs, Pittsburgh has won by two or more goals four times, representing decent probabilities for a strong payout on Saturday night.
