NHL Picks & Pucklines Tonight

Can The Canucks Beat The Jets Without Horvat?

After an amazing November, the Winnipeg Jets seem to have found their kryptonite. Manitoba’s team has lost five in a row on the road, including defeats against lowly teams like the Avalanche, Red Wings and Panthers. Fortunately for Winnipeg, they return home to face the Vancouver Canucks on Monday evening.

Vancouver will find out what they’re made of as Bo Horvat recovers from a cracked ankle. The Canucks were one of the better teams on the road before Bo’s injury, and a couple of consecutive losses against the Flyers and the Calgary Flames suggests that Vancouver doesn’t have the depth to perform well without their top young star.

NHL Lines: Lighting The Lamp

Canucks at Jets – Bet Winnipeg SU (-195)

Winnipeg owns a 7-3 advantage over the Vancouver Canucks during their last ten meetings, including five victories by two or more goals. The main concern for the Canucks would be an ankle injury to Bo Horvat, which alters the chemistry of their top line. Unlike the Jets, Vancouver doesn’t feature three scoring lines and the depth needed to survive without their star. Winnipeg has lost three in a row, but they’ll return to the win column tonight against a limping Canucks squad.

Capitals at Islanders – Bet Washington SU (+110)

These teams have played against each other ten times since January 2016, with the Washington Capitals earning a win in six of these meetings. New York’s turned into one of the more enjoyable teams to watch in the NHL, scoring buckets of goals while possessing a sieve-like defense. This type of firewagon hockey plays into the Capitals favor, because Washington still has tremendous forward depth without T.J. Oshie. Washington won’t be caught off-guard by the Islanders young guns, and an underdog moneyline for the Capitals provides solid value for hockey betting aficionados.

Hurricane at Ducks – Bet Anaheim SU (-110)

Anaheim enjoys a 9-2 edge over the Hurricanes during their past eleven meetings, a trend which would likely change if it weren’t for the expected return of Ryan Getzlaf and Jakob Silfverberg. The Ducks managed to tread water without top forwards to start the season, but Anaheim should be able to switch into top gear quickly against a Carolina team that’s lost five straight road games and seven of their last ten overall.

Panthers at Red Wings – Bet Detroit SU (-130)

Florida has a slight advantage over their last ten games against the Detroit Red Wings, winning six games since 2015. However, Detroit’s beaten the Panthers in two consecutive games, with these victories requiring a shootout to clinch. Neither team’s playing great hockey, and the Red Wings have gotten blasted more often lately, winning only two of their past ten meetings. Since Roberto Luongo’s injured and Florida’s on the road, the Red Wings should enjoy an advantage for a straight up win on Monday night.

Dirty Dangle Of The Night

Winnipeg Jets Beat Puckline Against Vancouver Canucks (-1.5, +150)

Vancouver plays well on the road, but an injury to Horvat will make it difficult for the Canucks to perform at a high level. The Winnipeg Jets have been one of the strongest teams at home, beating the spread in five of their last six home wins. It’s unlikely that the Jets will bring their three-game funk back to Manitoba, which makes a puckline win for Winnipeg a decent risk considering the reward.
