Detroit vs Ottawa NHL Odds, Picks, Live Score
Ready for some mini-playoff action? The next six days in the NHL are going to be crazy good as the final postseason positioning won’t be determined until Sunday. We have a slate of 13 games tonight and eleven of them have playoff implications. Let’s have a look at the April 4, 2017 NHL betting board at Bodog.

Detroit Red Wings @ Ottawa Senators Odds

Without much success dipping into the Ottawa well recently - we like the Senators versus Detroit tonight. The Red Wings and Sens hook up at the Canadian Tire Centre for a 7:30 PM ET puck drop. Ottawa sits one point behind Toronto in the fight for second place in the Atlantic Division and they are tied for third with Boston with a game in hand. StatsGuru’s favorite NHL team since Hatch Day, Detroit is missing the playoffs for the first time since finishing fifth in the Norris Division in 1990.

My Team's Next MatchOttawa Senators

Wobbling to the finish line, Ottawa has posted a 2-5-4 record over their last eleven contests. That weak run was preceded by a brilliant 12-4-0 hot streak so we are a little concerned with how much gas is left in the Senators tank. The Sens and Wings needed 14 shooters in their contest last night that Detroit won 5-4 in a shootout. To their credit, Ottawa fought hard as they were down by 1-0, 2-1, 3-2 and 4-2 counts during a very entertaining contest at the Joe Louis Arena in Hockey Town.

Tied for last with Buffalo in the Atlantic, Detroit is missing the NHL playoffs for the first time in 26 years. This is Detroit’s last road contest as they close out the year with two matches at home. The Red Wings have played a lot of hockey recently as this is their seventh game in ten days. Ottawa closes with games against the Bruins, Rangers and Islanders so this is a near must win. Given their recent run of extra-time matches, we will back the Sens with the (-180) Bodog money line here.

Best NHL Picks Tonight - April 4, 2017

Washington @ Toronto is another Eastern Conference matchup that has our eye. The Capitals lead the NHL with 112 points and two more victories will secure back-to-back Presidents’ Trophy wins. The Maple Leafs are red-hot (8-1-1) and the Buds have moved into second in the Atlantic Division. Toronto is playing a second straight match after they beat Buffalo 4-2 last night. Backups get the call in both nets tonight so we like OVER on the 5.5 (-120) Bodog sportsbook game total price.

Although the eight Western Conference playoff spots are taken - Pacific Division playoff style action highlights the late slate. Anaheim, Edmonton, San Jose and Calgary have key games as the Flames battle the Ducks in SoCal plus we get the Oilers @ Kings and Canucks @ Sharks. Calgary crashes in California (9-40-6) and the Ducks are keeping our futures betting tip alive. We see the Sharks chewing up the Canucks as well. Tie the Ducks (-145) Sharks (-265) and Capitals (-140) together on a three team money line parlay at Bodog. Who ya got? Message us on Facebook with your picks!

April 4, 2017 NHL Betting Results: We were a mere half-puck away from a perfect Tuesday with our NHL picks. The night began well as Ottawa played solid defense during a 2-0 win over Detroit. Not expecting Toronto would be so flat, in such a big playoff style match, our OVER 5.5 pick on the Maple Leafs vs Capitals contest crashed as Washington won 4-1 in Toronto. The Caps were part of our three team parlay that cashed when the Ducks doused the Flames and the Sharks cruised past the Canucks – both by a 3-1 score. We love the playoff style action being played right now and we will be back with our Thursday thoughts, predictions and picks on April 6, 2017. Stick with us and don't forget that we are your home for the best sportsbooks available to Canuck puck betting fans.
