NHL Picks & Pucklines Tonight - Winnipeg Tames The Wild
Caps, Kings And Wild Face Must-Win Scenarios
The first multiple overtime game of the 2018 NHL playoffs resulted in a thrilling victory for the Golden Knights in front of a rabid Vegas crowd. Now that they’ve proven their playoff metal, the best expansion team in history have an inside lane for their first playoff series win. Los Angeles will get Drew Doughty back in the lineup, but the Kings face an uphill slog to return from a 2-0 series deficit.
Philadelphia put in an impressive game two performance to wrest home advantage from the Penguins. Pittsburgh dominated in the shots department, but Brian Elliott stood firm while Sean Couturier played the finest game of his career, earning the game winner and three points in 27:15 of ice time. As an experienced playoff club, the Pens will regroup in an attempt to split the next two matches in Philly.
Minnesota and Washington face must-win situations early in the first round. If the Wild drop tonight’s match in Minny, the Jets will have a 3-0 stranglehold on the series, an insurmountable lead for Minnesota to climb. The Capitals losing another home game against Columbus would give the Blue Jackets a 2-0 lead before flying to Ohio. Washington wants to avoid this disastrous scenario at all costs.
NHL Straight Up Picks & Puckline Predictions
- Pittsburgh at Philadelphia: Bet Penguins SU (-135)

- Vegas at Los Angeles: Bet Golden Knights SU (+130)
NHL Playoffs - Best Picks & Pucklines
Jets at Wild – Bet Winnipeg Puckline (-1.5, +255)
The Winnipeg Jets have completely smothered the Wild over the first couple of games, more than doubling the number of shots of goal directed at Minnesota’s star goalie. Dubnyk’s done an admirable job preventing a complete blowout over the first two games, but the Wild skaters haven’t supported Devan with sufficient scoring. Neither game created doubt that the Jets would lose, even when Minny was in a position to upset Winnipeg during the opener.
The Jets puckline sits at +255, a superb reward for betting on one of the best teams in the NHL.
Blue Jackets at Capitals – Bet Washington SU (-160)
Columbus put in solid work during their exciting overtime victory over the Capitals in game one. Artemi Panarin emerged with a superstar performance, setting up a pair of goals in regulation before netting a classic overtime winner to steal the opener. Washington didn’t play horribly, outshooting the Jackets, but their special teams let them down, finishing the game 2-6 on the power play and 2-4 on the penalty kill.
The Capitals know that traveling to Columbus down 2-0 will all but end the series, so wager on a desperate Washington club earning a victory.
Penguins at Flyers – Bet Pittsburgh SU (-135)
Sean Couturier put in a superhero performance to help the Flyers strike back after Philly lost game one by a 7-0 margin. He earned three points and lead all skaters with 27:15 TOI, a massive amount of ice time for a forward. As a potential Selke candidate, Couturier’s charged with preventing solid scoring chances for Pens stars. Pittsburgh threw 35 shots at Brian Elliot, but only a single snuck through, a situation which likely won’t repeat in Philadelphia. Wager on a straight up win in game three for the Pens.
Golden Knights at Kings – Bet Vegas SU (+130)
Vegas continues to roll in the playoffs, winning a terrific double overtime clash with an Eric Haula strike. Los Angeles wasted another remarkable performance from Jonathan Quick, who kicked aside 54 shots. Fleury wasn’t as busy, but remained steady, rejecting 29 shots to give the Golden Knights an opportunity for glory. Drew Doughty returns from suspension for game three, and he’ll be primed to defend the Kings home court.
However, Los Angeles tends to play a bit better on the road, while the Golden Knights have outplayed the Kings. A +130 moneyline for Vegas looks like superb value on Sunday night, despite Quick’s outstanding goaltending.
