NHL Futures: Week 27 Odds Update

Stanley Cup Championship Week 27 Contenders

One week remains on the 2017-18 National Hockey League regular season schedule and there is still plenty to be decided up and down the NHL playoff betting scale. Nashville (113) increased their Presidents’ Cup lead to three points – after they were one point up on Tampa Bay last week. Boston (110) didn’t cut into the Predators lead but the Bruins has moved past Tampa Bay into second place. The Lightning have been on a 4-6-0 slide and are now tied with Winnipeg in third with 108 points.

Continuing their inspiring run, Vegas (107) sits one point out of third. The Golden Knights have a four point lead on Washington and Toronto as the Capitals and Maple Leafs are tied in sixth with 103 points each. A field of nine are fighting for the final six playoff positions. Dallas and Florida look like they fall short but the other seven team are separated by just four points. Most squads have three contests remaining so postseason positioning won’t be fully decided until 06/04/18.

Heading Into Week 27: Winnipeg is healthy and deserves Stanley Cup consideration.

02/04/18 Eastern Conference Championship Odds Update

Heading to the wire, the Eastern Conference regular season winner may not be decided until Florida and Boston play their makeup on 08/04/18. The Bruins are two points up on the Lightning and they have a game in hand. The leaders will square off on 03/04/18 in Tampa Bay and then Boston finishes with a game in Florida vs the Panthers and home matches against the Senators and Panthers again. The Bolts close at home vs Bruins and Sabres and then they close in Carolina.

Nicked up, Steven Stamkos is day-to-day for the Lightning and they are on a 1-4-0 skid. The Bolts need Stamkos healthy for the playoffs so he may not play again in the regular season. Washington and Toronto are neck in a fight for third, the Capitals own the tie-breaker over the Buds, and both teams have two games remaining. Pittsburgh is trying to fend off Columbus as the Champs have a two point lead on the Blue Jackets in the fight for second in the Metropolitan Division.

Nashville is a win or a Winnipeg loss/tie from clinching the Western Conference top perch. One has to believe that the Predators will go all out to take down the Panthers on 03/04/18 and then sit as many players as needed over their final two matches against Washington and Columbus. The Jets are five points back, with three games to play, and they are fending of Vegas who one point behind them. It will be interesting to see if the Sin City Crew can take the next step.

Minnesota and San Jose are tied in fourth, both with 79 game played, but the Wild just lost top D-Man Ryan Suter for the season to a fractured ankle. Los Angeles, Anaheim and Colorado all control their own destiny while the St. Louis sits one point out of the playoff party behind the Avalanche. Self-destructing down the stretch, Dallas should see their chances snuffed out after action on 03/04/18. Lower position battles will go down to the wire and won't be decided until Saturday.

West Playoff Race: Nashville now has a tiny +160 Western Conference winning line at Bet365.

Congrats to Villanova as the Wildcats cut down the nets after a 79-62 whacking of the Michigan Wolverines during the National Champion match in San Antonio, Texas. We expected a low scoring contest but we also though the Maize & Blue would put up a better fight. Not feeling a need for greed – we’ll gladly cash our NCAAB Championship winning wager. Pro hoops action takes center stage now as the National Basketball Association is into their playoff stretch drive. After a dark night for the NCAA title game – the NBA goes full steam ahead until the season ends on 11/04/18

It is fantastic that Boys Of Summer are back and the first week of the season has produced some some high and some fairly low watermarks. Washington and Pittsburgh are both out to a 4-0 start in the National League while Boston and Houston are 4-1 over in the American League. Power Heavily Favored To Go First Overall In NHL Entry Draft

While the 2021 NHL entry draft isn't viewed as being as deep as the 2020 class, as with Alexis Lafreniere last season, there appears to be a consensus No. 1 - Michigan's Owen Power. The Wolverines freshman defenceman didn't look out of place playing with the men at the IIHF world championship, winning a gold medal skating for Canada, playing in the top defensive pairing. Power is almost certainly going to the Buffalo Sabres.

The Tampa Bay Lightning are one win away from capturing their second straight Stanley Cup title. They lead the best-of-seven Cup final series against the Montreal Canadiens by a 3-0 count. In the Cup final for the first time in 28 years, Montreal has lost nine of 33 previous Stanley Cup final series. However, the Canadiens have only ever been swept in a final series one time in their history.
