NHL Futures: Week 24 Odds Update

Stanley Cup Championship Week 24 Contenders

Week 24 of the 2017-18 National Hockey League season begins with terrific races being waged throughout the standings. Remaining razor close at the top, Tampa Bay (48-17-4) has a two point lead on Nashville (44-14-10) - though the Predators have played one less match than the Lightning. The Bolts improved their league leading GF/GA differential (+58 to +62) after winning three in a row last week. The Preds are keeping pace as they have matched the Lightning's winning ways.

Despite dealing with minor injuries, to Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand, Boston is still running hot and the Bruins are six points behind the Bolts in third place. Boston (43-16-8) has played one less match then Nashville and two less than Tampa Bay. Though still playing winning hockey, Vegas (44-19-5) have fallen seven points back in fourth. Winnipeg (41-18-9) owns fifth place as the Jets have a four point lead on the Toronto Maple Leafs who should have stud Auston Matthews back soon.

Heading Into Week 24: Tampa Bay Lightning (+500) money line price at Bodog won't last long.

11/03/18 Eastern Conference Championship Odds Update

Looking like it could be a two-horse race the rest of the way, Tampa Bay maintained their six-point lead on Boston in the fight for first in the Eastern Conference. The Lightning are just four wins away from being the first team to clinch a 2018 NHL playoff berth. Tampa Bay, who have 100 points, own a 25 point lead on ninth place Florida who could finish with 107 points - if they win all of their remaining 16 games. Since Boston isn't backing off - the Bolts won't be taking their foot off the gas. An NHL best 25-62 at Amalie Arena Tampa is aiming for postseason home-ice advantage.

Following a four-game winning streak, Toronto tumbled during a 0-2-2 winless run that ended with an impressive 5-2 win at home over Pittsburgh on 10/03/18. Washington failed to take advantage of the Leafs mini-skid as the Capitals remain four points behind the third place Buds. The Caps also burned one of their games in-hand they had on Toronto. The Penguins are now one-point behind Washington in fifth while Philadelphia, New Jersey and Columbus round out the East top eight.

East Playoff Race: We are still confident with our Tampa Bay Eastern Conference winning call.

11/03/18 Western Conference Championship Odds Update

Thanks in part to a recent 9-0-1 roll, Nashville has gained a five point lead in the race for first in the Western Conference. The lone defeat just happened as the Champs had a ten-match winning streak snapped when they lost 3-2 (SO) at home versus New Jersey on 10/03/18. The Preds, who are the real deal and a complete package, outscored their opponents by 43-20 count during their hot streak. Vegas, who have a tough closing schedule, went 5-4-1 during the same stretch and the Golden Knights are now just one point ahead of Winnipeg in the fight for second in the West.

Eight teams are separated by seven points in the fight for the final five West Stanley Cup playoff spots. Minnesota leads the way as the Wild have a three point lead on fifth place Dallas. The Stars own a one point edge on San Jose as the Sharks sit sixth with a game in hand on Minnesota and Dallas. Colorado, Anaheim, Los Angeles, Calgary and St Louis are separated by three points as the last five squads with a shot - three of them won't make it to the party. Unless a 7-2 win vs the LA Kings is a spark, one them may be St. Louis as the Blues hit sour notes during a dismal 1-7-2 slide.

West Playoff Race: Not writing them off - Blues bettors should back Nashville as a mild hedge.

Potential NHL Playoff Adjustments due to the US-Canada Border

With an average of around 6 games to go for the remainder of the 2021 NHL season, many are wondering who will clinch the final spots across the four divisions. The Stanley Cup is still a while away as we turn our attention to the postseason playoffs and all that it brings!

While most of the focus is on hockey and what will unfold in the remaining games this season, there is another issue that has been raised as a result of government regulations regarding travel.

The Maple Leafs, Oilers, and Jets have all looked quite strong this season. While many sportsbooks don’t offer great odds for those teams winning this year, those teams certainly have the quality to compete. It would be hugely disappointing if the North Division were unable to compete for whatever reason.
