NHL Futures: Week 23 Odds Update

Stanley Cup Championship Week 23 Contenders

Tight at the top, the chase for the Presidents' Trophy continues with Tampa Bay (45-17-4) leading the way as the Lightning have a slim one point lead over a surging Nashville squad. Tampa Bay went 11-5 over their last 16 matches, which were decided by 64-54 count, and the Bolts continue to light the lamp regularly as their +58 GF/GA differential is the best mark in the league. Tampa RW Nikita Kucherov, with 33 goals and 52 assists, leads the way in the Art Ross Trophy scoring race though his edge is down to three points over Pittsburgh stud Evgeni Malkin who has 82 points.

Smoking hot, and looking to defend their Western Conference title, Nashville (42-14-9) has won eight in a row heading into this segment. The Predators outscored their opponents by a 37-18 count during their winning run and their 14 losses is the lowest total in the NHL. Vegas has fallen five points off the pace and the Golden Knights (42-18-5) are one point ahead of Boston - though the Bruins have two games in hand on the Sin City Crew. Winnipeg (39-17-9) is battling hard and they round out the top five overall as the Jets have a two point lead on the Toronto Maples Leafs.

Heading Into Week 23: While some bookmakers have started purging their betting boards, Bodog is a solid example, others are still offering prices of Stanley Cup pipe dreams. Don't get caught up in a hot streak (Florida Panthers) and think those teams are contenders. Simply stated, bettors are burning money if they wager on any squad that is outside of the top ten at this point.

05/03/18 Eastern Conference Championship Odds Update

Having played three more matches than Boston, Tampa Bay has a six point bulge in the race for first in the Eastern Conference. The Lightning and Bruins have been matching each other, basically stride for stride, as they both have seven wins over their last ten contests. Missing stud Auston Matthews, out since 22/02/18, Toronto has cooled some as the Maple Leafs are on a 5-3-2 run. The Buds still own third place in the East but Washington has two games in hand and they are four points back. The Capitals haven't been any better than the Leafs as they are 5-4-1 over their last ten matches.

While Tampa Bay, Toronto and Boston are all going to make the postseason in the weak Atlantic, the fight in the Metropolitan Division is very close. Washington leads the way but Pittsburgh is one point back and Philadelphia is just two points out of first. The Caps have a slight leg up however, as Alex Ovechkin & Crew have played two less matches than the Penguins and one less than the Flyers. That said, Washington plays ten of their final 17 games on the road. New Jersey, Columbus, Florida and Carolina are separated by five points in the fight for the two Wild Card positions in East.

05/03/18 Western Conference Championship Odds Update

Much more even, in terms of games played, the Western Conference playoff race is super tight as well. While teams like Florida and Boston have played just 63 contests, the West squads have all played at least 65 matches and most have played 66 games. Two points behind Vegas last week, Nashville is now leading the West and the Predators price is falling fast at top ranked puck betting sportsbooks. The Champs have moved four points past the Golden Knights as the Preds are third in goals against and sixth in goals scored. They have a Stanley Cup contending formula in Smashville.

We are witnessing a tale of two halves in Sin City as Vegas went 29-10-2 during the first 41 games of their inaugural season but they're 13-8-3 since. GM George McPhee, HC Gerard Gallant and the Golden Knights players have performed brilliantly - though we wonder if they'll start gripping their sticks a little tighter in the weeks ahead. Winnipeg keeps rolling (13-4-2 last 19) as the Jets sit five points out of first in third. Blake Wheeler & Co. are also six points clear of Minnesota in the race for second in the Central Division. The Wild and Dallas Stars are one point apart in the fight for third.

West Playoff Race: San Jose Sharks (+1600) Half-Unit Buy at SIA to win Pacific Division (Vegas).

Worlds Are Colliding - George Is Not Upset

Seinfeld fans will get that play on words. While we love the Stanley Cup races, puck betting options are sharing the spotlight as a five pack of sports worlds are colliding. Hoops action is heating up as there are 20 games or so left on the NBA regular season slate while NCAAB March Madness is now just a week away. Toronto Raptors vs Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors vs Houston Rockets are solid bets to play in the Association's Conference Finals. Still arranging our US College Basketball National Championship ducks - we will load lots of previews and predictions during the Madness.

Albeit with a loss, defending MLS Champion Toronto has opened their 2018 campaign. Following an MLS Cup winning celebration, at BMO Field on 03/03/18, one can forgive the Reds for opening with a loss and a 34-game marathon is ahead. The Boys of Summer are deep into spring training X-Games and we are just 23 days away from all 30 MLB squads hitting the field on Opening Day 2018. During the final year of the traditional MLB two-league system, the last time every team hit the diamonds on MLB Day One was back on April 10, 1968. These veteran bookmakers cover it all.
