NHL Futures: Week 19 Odds Update

Stanley Cup Championship Week 19 Contenders

Looking the latest overall National Hockey League standings, familiar faces continue to populate the upper echelon, as Tampa Bay owns a one point lead over Vegas. For the 15th straight segment, the Lightning are consensus top chalk at top CSB recommended puck betting sportsbooks. Following their first three-game losing streak - Tampa Bay rebounded with wins in five of six games prior to NHL Week 19 action. It is tough to argue the Bolts not being the cream of the NHL especially with Nikita Kucherov (66 PTS) and Steven Stamkos (60 PTS) sitting first and third in the scoring race.

Being backstopped solidly, by three-time Stanley Cup winning netminder Marc-André Fleury, Vegas continues to roll as the Golden Knights are just one of four teams tagged with a triple digit Stanley Cup price. Boston and Nashville as also in that small crowd as the other 27 NHL squads have a money line of (+1100) or better. Quietly taking care of business, Winnipeg is tied in third overall with the Predators while the Bruins are one point back with games in hand. Bookmakers haven't fully bought into the Jets as the Manitoba Crew are currently carrying a (+1100) NHL title price.

Heading Into Week 19: Toronto recovered from a 1-2-3 mini-skid with a 5-1-0 recent run.

05/02/18 Eastern Conference Championship Odds Update

Far from a comfortable lead, Tampa Bay still owns the top Eastern Conference playoff position. The Lightning (36-13-3) are 6-4 over their last ten but Boston has closed the gap. Prior to NHL Week 13 action, the Bruins were ninth in the East and 15 points back. Although their impressive undefeated string was snapped at 18 games, after a 3-1 loss on 30/1/18 to Anaheim, Boston is 19-2-4 over their last 25 matches. With two games in hand - the Bruins now trails the Bolts by just five points.

Washington and Toronto are tied in the fight for third, with the 65 points each, though the Capitals have played two fewer contests. Also, Washington is first in the Metropolitan Division, by three points over the New Jersey Devils, while Toronto trails Boston and Tampa Bay by five and ten points respectively in the Atlantic Division. Sporting a (+1400) East title price at Bodog, and though they are a team on the rise with a solid core of young players, we still aren't dealing with the Devils.

East Playoff Race: Three points separate five teams in the battle for two East Wild Card spots.

05/02/18 Western Conference Championship Odds Update

Prior to the start of the 2017-18 NHL season, what kind of odds would have been placed on Vegas and Winnipeg owning the top two positions in the Western Conference standings with nine weeks left on the slate? Heading into Week 1 action, the Golden Knights (+6600) and Jets (+2800) were massive pups to win the West. Fast-forward 19 weeks and their highest end prices currently sit at (+360) and (+500) respectively. Full marks for bucking the odds - neither squad is slowing down.

Letting the league know their 2016-17 WC Championship wasn't a fluke, Nashville is the hottest squad in the West right now. The Predators have rolled to a 9-1-1 recent record as the Champs sit third - trailing Winnipeg by two points and Vegas five. St. Louis has winger Jaden Schwartz back in the fold and, despite missing 20 games, he is still the Blues third leading scorer. Four teams are within four points of top spot in the Central - Vegas owns a huge 10-point Pacific Division bulge.

West Playoff Race: Holding the two West Wild Card spots - Dallas and Minnesota are both hot.

Phildelphia Eagles Are Super Bowl LII Champions

Congratulations to the Philadelphia Eagles who are 2018 National Football League Super Bowl LII Champions. Underdogs in all three of their 2018 playoff fights, SB MVP Nick Foles lead the Eagles to an action packed 41-33 victory over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. The Whale, who placed a "multimillion" wager on the Eagles at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, was right in the end as Philadelphia joins New York, Chicago, Boston and Los Angeles as the only five US  cities that are home to NFL Super Bowl, MLB World Series, NHL Stanley Cup and NBA Finals Championships.

Although the NFL never sleeps, Tom Brady & Crew have already been posted as favorites to claim Super Bowl LII, football takes a back seat to the NHL and NBA playoff battles now. With nine weeks left on the puck slate, plus ten on the hoops schedule, those postseason races will be electric down the stretch. Top online bookmakers have bettors covered with tons of daily wagering options on both sports. Also, and very exciting, the Boys of Summer are close to returning as the Tigers and Yankees will meet in the first spring training contest on February 23, 2018. We love sports!

Potential NHL Playoff Adjustments due to the US-Canada Border

With an average of around 6 games to go for the remainder of the 2021 NHL season, many are wondering who will clinch the final spots across the four divisions. The Stanley Cup is still a while away as we turn our attention to the postseason playoffs and all that it brings!

While most of the focus is on hockey and what will unfold in the remaining games this season, there is another issue that has been raised as a result of government regulations regarding travel.

The Maple Leafs, Oilers, and Jets have all looked quite strong this season. While many sportsbooks don’t offer great odds for those teams winning this year, those teams certainly have the quality to compete. It would be hugely disappointing if the North Division were unable to compete for whatever reason.
