NHL Futures: Week 17 Odds Update

Stanley Cup Championship Week 17 Contenders

Celebrating a year during which they are re-writing every positive NHL inaugural season record, both team and individual player marks, Vegas can add first place overall in the National Hockey League to their impressive list of accomplishments. Apart from Ottawa and Tampa Bay, who were tied atop the league standings after winning their franchise first match during the 1992-93 season, no first-year expansion team has ever owned the top NHL perch. That milestone was plowed through when the Golden Knights (66 PTS) calmed the Hurricanes 5-1 in Carolina on 21/01/18.

Tampa Bay (65) fell one-point back and are second overall for the first time since they bumped the Blues out of the top spot during Week 11 action. Recovering nicely, from a 3-5-2 December slide, Winnipeg (63) is on a winning run and the Jets are three points back in third. Boston, who haven't lost since 14/12/17, and Nashville who have won five in row, sit fourth with 62 points each. Hottest off all, Colorado heads into Week 17 riding the league's longest winning streak this season at nine straight. Tampa Bay remains as top Stanley Cup chalk in our futures prices update bubble below.

Heading Into Week 17: The Lightning still lead the NHL with a terrific +48 GF/GA differential.

22/01/18 Eastern Conference Championship Odds Update

Stumbling through a rough patch, though still first overall, Tampa Bay is on a 2-4-1 slide. That run includes the Bolts first three-game losing streak and has reduced their Eastern Conference lead to just three points over Boston who have one game in hand. Playing lights out hockey, the Bruins have not lost during an impressive 12-0-4 run that has covered 38 days. The Lightning's East title line moved up to (+325) at SportsInteraction and Bodog while Boston's (+700) best price is found at Betway.

It is sort of strange that Betway is the only bookmaker who has not fully bought into what Brad Marchand and Crew are selling. Boston is priced at (+450) or less to win the East at the rest of the CSB top ranked NHL betting sites. The Capitals continue to stalk the leaders as Washington is on a 6-2-2 roll and sit four points behind Tampa Bay. First in the Metropolitan Division, with a five-point lead on New Jersey, Bet365 is currently offering the Caps (+700) top value. Continue to avoid the Devils.

22/01/18 Western Conference Championship Odds Update

Are you a fellow heat seeker? Well, if you have never felt the glorious warmth of Las Vegas – go stand beside the Golden Knights. Vegas (66 PTS) may have found their road legs as they are 3-1-1 over their last five as visitors. The Knights own a three-point lead on Winnipeg, with two games is hand, in the fight for top spot in the Western Conference. We still haven’t invested in the Sin City Sensations – mainly due to the fact that the West is stacked with several smoking hot squads.

Both on a 7-2-1 roll, the Jets (63) and Nashville (62) sit second and third with the Predators having games in hand on Winnipeg (3) and Vegas (1). The Stars are shining as Dallas (58) has earned points in 14 of 18 contests. On a 7-1-2 run Calgary (55) is third in the Pacific Division but eleven points behind Vegas and three back of San Jose (58). Make it ten in a row for Colorado as the Avalanche (57) topped Toronto 4-2 tonight and have moved into the final playoff spot. The West remains Wild.

Week 17 West Watch: Dallas has value with a +1200 West money line price at Bodog.

Conor McDavid has once again had a season of prolific scoring. This weekend he became the ninth player in NHL history to score at least 100 points through his first 53 games of the season, but the Edmonton Oilers captain wants more than individual success.

Potential NHL Playoff Adjustments due to the US-Canada Border

With an average of around 6 games to go for the remainder of the 2021 NHL season, many are wondering who will clinch the final spots across the four divisions. The Stanley Cup is still a while away as we turn our attention to the postseason playoffs and all that it brings!

While most of the focus is on hockey and what will unfold in the remaining games this season, there is another issue that has been raised as a result of government regulations regarding travel.

The Maple Leafs, Oilers, and Jets have all looked quite strong this season. While many sportsbooks don’t offer great odds for those teams winning this year, those teams certainly have the quality to compete. It would be hugely disappointing if the North Division were unable to compete for whatever reason.

Over 150 players on 29 different teams have entered the NHL's COVID-19 protocols.
