NHL Futures: Week 15 Odds Update

Stanley Cup Championship Week 15 Contenders

Flying along, the fastest sport on the planet has reached its season halfway point. As we head into Week 15, of the 2017-18 schedule, the vast majority of teams have played at least 41 of their 82 games. From Week 1 until now - there have been lots of surprisingly good squads and a healthy dose of disappointing teams. Of the good, Vegas continues to defy all odds and they are smashing first year franchise records every time they hit the ice. A total team effort, the Knights don't have single player in the Top 20 point race, Vegas sits second - just three points behind Tampa Bay.

Winnipeg has also been a pleasant surprise as the Jets occupy the top perch in the Central Division and they are third overall. New Jersey was on the upstart side of the ledger but the Devils have lost five straight. Sitting eight points out of a playoff position, with a dismal 18-22-3 record, Edmonton is far and away the most underachieving team in the NHL this season. We are having some "buyers remorse" as Connor McDavid & Crew were our to pick to win the Western Conference. In the East, Pittsburgh and Montreal are both struggling - although the Penguins are playing better lately.

Heading Into Week 15: Dallas, with a +2500 Cup line at SportsInteraction, is worth considering.

08/01/18 Eastern Conference Championship Odds Update

Although Tampa Bay is still the runaway leader, prices to win the Eastern Conference Championship have tightened up some after the Lightning. The Bolts +300 price at SIA went unchanged but they are +275 at our other three top NHL sportsbooks. Trailing Tampa Bay, by a wide margin still, six other teams are now in triple-digit territory. That includes Washington, who are 15-3-3 run, as the Capitals fell from +850 to +600 at Bet365 but can still be bought for +850 at SportsInteraction.

We wonder where the Flyers (19-15-8) best price at Betway (+2500) would be if Philadelphia had not gone on a 4-8-7 slide in late October and all of November. Rebounding nicely, Claude Giroux & Crew have enjoyed an 11-4-1 recent run. Although they have games in hand on Carolina (3) and Philadelphia (2) Pittsburgh has climbed into the final Wild Card spot in the East. With the bottom five squads in Atlantic Division being so dismal – five Metro teams are going to make the playoffs.

Week 15 Watch: While still not in high gear - Keep an eye on the defending Champion Penguins.

08/01/18 Western Conference Championship Odds Update

It is becoming more difficult by the day to not buy into Vegas and Winnipeg who continue to lead the way in the Western Conference. The Golden Knights are 18-2-1 at T-Mobile Arena in Sin City and they are on a 14-1-1 recent run. Balanced on offense, plus a 2.71 team GAA, have powered the Knights success. Despite missing Mark Schefele for the last five games, who is still their second leading scorer, Winnipeg remains on top in the Central Division thanks to a recent 5-0-1 roll.

Colorado is becoming a surprise squad as well. Led by Nathan MacKinnon, who has posted 12 points during five straight Avalanche wins, Colorado has moved into the second Wild Card spot in the West. That race is super tight though as five teams are separated by just one point. Calgary is also in that crowd as the Flames have won three straight while collecting at least one point in six of their last eight contests. The final stretch drive in Wild West is going to be highly entertaining.

Week 15 West Watch: With a +2000 price at SportsInteraction - Minnesota has some value.
