NHL Futures: Week 12 Odds Update

Stanley Cup Championship Week 12 Contenders

Torching everyone in their path, Tampa Bay has moved back into first place in the National Hockey League standings. The Lightning own the longest current winning streak in the league as they have rolled to seven straight wins. Perfect so far in December, Tampa Bay outscored their opponents by a 33-13 count over their last seven games. That run has raised the Bolts NHL best GF/GA differential to +43 which is 20 goals better than the +23 mark posted by the Nashville Predators. Bookmakers at SportsInteraction now have the Lightning with a league low +575 Stanley Cup futures price.

Four points behind the Bolts, Nashville and St. Louis sit in a second place tie with 46 points. The Predators are on a 7-1-2 run and their best Stanley Cup line (+1400) is available at Bet365. Feeling the affects of losing their second leading scorer, LW Jaden Schwartz, the Blues are on a 1-3-0 slide during which they have been outscored 10-3 and have been shutout twice. Toronto has also been bitten by the injury bug as Auston Matthews (upper body) has missed the Maple Leafs last three games - all losses by a 9-3 margin. Check out the current Stanley Cup prices in the bubble below.

Heading Into Week 12: The Washington Capitals, on a 10-2-0 run, are starting to heat up.

18/12/17 Eastern Conference Championship Odds Update

Happy that we jumped on the Tampa Bay +650 Eastern Conference money line, back in Week 3, we are somewhat disappointed that we don't have the Lightning as a Stanley Cup pick. That is especially true considering we have Pittsburgh as our East winner. While we aren't prepared to give up on them yet, the Penguins are just 17-14-3 and currently sit two points out a playoff position. Whether Sidney Crosby & Crew are playing possum, or age is starting to catch up to them, remains to be seen. Heading into Week 12, the Pens are sixth overall in the Metropolitan Division standings.

Tampa Bay has put a lot of distance between them and the other Atlantic Division teams as the Lightning now have a nine point bulge on the second place Toronto Maple Leafs and a gaudy 15 point lead on Boston who sit third overall. The Bolts also have a seven point lead on Washington in the race for top spot in the Eastern Conference. Nikita Kucherov (23 G 23 A) and Steven Stamkos (12 G 31 A) continue to sit first and second in points scored while Andrei Vasilevskiy (2.11 GAA) leads all goaltenders with 21 victories. Barring injuries - Tampa Bay won't slow down anytime soon.

Week 12 East Thoughts: Add Tampa Bay (+600) with 3-Units on the Betway Stanley Cup line.

10/07/18 Stanley Cup Update: Washington Capitals defeated the Vegas Golden Knights (4-1) and are the 2018 NHL Stanley Cup Champions. Check out the 2019 Stanley Cup Futures.

18/12/17 Western Conference Championship Odds Update

While Tampa Bay is running away from the pack in the East, the Western Conference standings are extremely close. Battling in the tough Central Division race, and tied with 46 points, Nashville and St. Louis lead the way in the West but the Predators have three games in hand on the Blues. Vegas and Los Angeles are second with 44 points as the Golden Knights, who have two games in hand on the Kings, continue to shatter first year NHL franchise records. Winnipeg has cooled off some, as the Jets are 4-4-2 over their last ten games, while Chicago has heated up with five straight wins.

West Wild Card standings are also tight as three points separate five teams. Chicago and Dallas currently hold the two spots, with 39 and 38 points, but Minnesota and Calgary have 37 points while Anaheim has 36. At the other end of the spectrum, even though we still have not hit the halfway point of the regular season, Arizona (7-23-5) is the first squad with 'Off The Board" status. Bodog bookmakers have already bumped the Coyotes off their futures board. For sports betting fans in Arizona - it's a good thing that MLB 2018 Opening Day is just 100 sleeps away!

Week 12 West Thoughts: Nashville has regained their 2016-17 West winning swagger.

Potential NHL Playoff Adjustments due to the US-Canada Border

With an average of around 6 games to go for the remainder of the 2021 NHL season, many are wondering who will clinch the final spots across the four divisions. The Stanley Cup is still a while away as we turn our attention to the postseason playoffs and all that it brings!

While most of the focus is on hockey and what will unfold in the remaining games this season, there is another issue that has been raised as a result of government regulations regarding travel.

The Maple Leafs, Oilers, and Jets have all looked quite strong this season. While many sportsbooks don’t offer great odds for those teams winning this year, those teams certainly have the quality to compete. It would be hugely disappointing if the North Division were unable to compete for whatever reason.
