NHL Futures: Week 10 Odds Update

NHL Futures: Week 10 Odds Update

Stanley Cup Championship Week 10 Contenders

Due in part to a recent 6-4-0 slide by Tampa Bay, plus a 7-2-1 winning run of their own, Winnipeg (17-6-4) has moved into a first place NHL overall points tie with the Lightning (18-6-2). Somewhat unexpected prior to the start of the season, and even more surprising when one considers that All Star Patrik Laine is playing below his potential, the Jets are off to their best start since they moved to Manitoba in 2011. It helps that Winnipeg netminder Connor Hellebuyck is tied for second in the NHL with 15 wins - two back of Bolts goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy who leads the league with 17.

After stumbling during a 1-6-1 slide, Los Angeles has picked up the pace as the Kings (17-8-3) have won five straight and sit alone in third place. St Louis enjoyed a brief stay on the top perch as the Blues (17-8-2) have lost three straight and fell to fourth overall. A scoring drought is to blame for the Blues slide as they were outscored 9-4 during losses to Anaheim, Los Angeles and Minnesota. On a league best 8-2-0 run, Columbus is a tie-breaker ahead of Toronto and Nashville to round out the top five overall standings. The bubble below contains the current Stanley Cup futures odds.

Heading Into Week 10: Tampa Bay remains as the top overall NHL Championship contender.

04/12/17 Eastern Conference Championship Odds Update

Taking a look at the NHL Eastern Conference standings, despite a 3-4-0 recent run, Tampa Bay is still leading the way as the Lightning are three points (38) clear of Columbus and Toronto who both have 35 points. That's a fairly solid lead when one considers the Blue Jackets and Maple Leafs have played one and two more games respectively. Tampa's mini slide caused Bet365 (+360 to +370) and Betway (+300 to +350) to raise their odds while SportsInteraction and Bodog left the Bolts line unchanged. Nikita Kucherov & Crew still own the league's best GF/GA differential with a +28 mark.

Columbus (+600), best value at SIA and Bodog, and Toronto (+475) at Bet365, moved past New Jersey as the Devils dropped to fourth overall in the East. After earning 18 of a possible 22 points during their first 11 games, New Jersey has banked just 16 of a possible 30 points over their last 15 matches. While we are not investing in them, bettors wanting to back the Devils receive a (+1200) best price at Bodog. There is a crazy standings separation (a gap from 35 down to 27 PTS) in the East as the teams sitting from third to eleventh are all one point ahead of the squad chasing them.

East Thoughts Week 10: We still like our Week 1 Toronto East winner prediction.

04/12/17 Western Conference Championship Odds Update

Come along my baby, whole lotta shakin' goin' on! Those lyrics, from legend Jerry Lee Lewis, best describes the changes in the Western Conference standings since our Week 9 update. Winnipeg is your new leader as the Jets (38) have a one point lead over Los Angeles (35) with a game in hand on the Kings. Backed by solid goaltending, plus an often explosive offense, the Jets are 9-2-1 and outscored their opponents by a 3.83 to 2.08 average margin over those twelve contests. Laine is starting to heat up so Winnipeg's (+575) price at SportsInteraction deserves consideration.

Six points out of first a week ago, the Kings just rolled through the East and posted a 4-0-0 mark by a combined 16-5 count to leap into second place. Los Angeles (+1000 at SIA) leads the league with a tiny 2.18 team goals against average. St. Louis  slipped from first to third while Nashville (16-7-3) retained the fourth overall slot. After experiencing their first losing run, Vegas rebounded with five straight wins but have slipped back some during a 1-3-0 streak. While we caution against going all in, BetWay is offering the best value (+2000) on the Golden Knights. The West remains Wild eh?

West Thoughts Week 10: Winnipeg deserves West Championship contender consideration.

MLS, NFL and NCAAF Playoff Wagering Websites

Jammed packed with action, the week that was brought the MLS Cup and NCAA playoff pictures into full focus while the true contenders continue to shine in the NFL. For the second straight year, Toronto and Seattle are the East and West Finalists after they punted Columbus and Houston in the Conference Finals. The 2017 MLS tight fight goes at 4:00 PM ET on December 9, 2017, at BMO Field in Toronto. After their record setting season, and seeking to avenge their 5-4 penalty kick loss at home last season, we like the Reds bringing the MLS Cup to Canada for the first time in history.

Conference Championship Weekend in US College Football produced the Final Four squads that will meet in the playoffs to determine the NCAAF National Champion. Clemson, Oklahoma and Georgia won their way in while Alabama received a controversial nod from the Committee. We enjoyed a solid season and advise readers to watch for playoff updates on our NCAAF futures page. The NFL playoff races are rounding into form and we will update that chase with our Week 14 Super Bowl futures update on 07/12/17. As the 2019-20 NHL comes to an end, nearly one year after its start, the league looks to the 2020-21 NHL Season schedule. Outside of the 2020 NHL Draft and the start of NHL free agencies, the league has yet to announce much for the upcoming season. The league expects the season to start on December 1. However, challenges such as whether the Canada-US border will open this year, certainly make planning a challenge.
