Three NHL Canadian Teams Hit The Ice On Monday
Toronto Hosts Arizona As Heavy Home Favorites
The Toronto Maple Leafs are currently listed as -200+ home favorites on Monday night as they welcome the Arizona Coyotes to town. The Leafs have won six straight games entering this game and are coming off back-to-back shutout wins. That's quite a roll they've been on as they are finally putting it together on both ends of the ice, and with Auston Matthews back in the mix, we've already seen there prolific offense get a nice boost with Matthews netting two goals on Saturday night in Montreal.
But even as big favorites here, the Leafs are the first team this year to face Arizona when the Coyotes have been on a winning streak. It took nearly two months for the young Coyotes to win two games in a row, but consecutive one-goal wins over Montreal and Ottawa has the Coyotes looking for a clean sweep on their trip through Eastern Canada. It probably won't happen, but Arizona is playing with much more confidence these days and the -200+ price tag on Toronto might be a touch inflated.
Calgary Continues Their Road Trip In Washington
The Calgary Flames road trip got off to an awful start with an 8-2 defeat in Detroit, but the Flames were able to bounce back and beat Philadelphia 5-4 in OT in their last game. The Flames were able to bounce back from an early 3-1 deficit against the Flyers that day, and with six straight cashes on the 'over' and three of their last four games seeing Calgary score five or more, the Flames are taking aggressive hockey to new heights these days. They'll need all the offense they can muster against a dangerous Capitals squad.
At just a couple of games over the .500 mark, the Capitals haven't got the results they've really wanted so far this year and it feels likes it's only a matter of time before they start to rattle off numerous wins. From a betting perspective, now may be the time to take advantage of Washington being priced a little shorter then they have been in the past and as -140 favorites for this game against Calgary, this may not be the spot to back the Flames. After all, Washington would love to get some revenge for a 2-1 loss in Calgary earlier this year.
Winnipeg Takes On Defending Western Champions
This is about the time of year where teams who've gotten off to a hot start like the Winnipeg Jets have get some true tests against great teams from a season ago. The Jets are in Nashville on Monday night to take on the Preds, and like Calgary, Winnipeg is listed as a road underdog in the +120 range. Winnipeg has won four in a row so they are playing some great hockey right now, but so are the Predators as they've won six of their last seven. This game has a chance of being the best game on the board from a pure fan perspective and betting-wise it doesn't look like there is any sort of edge on either side.
