Rest Of Canadian NHL Teams Back On The Ice Thursday
Montreal As Heavy Underdogs In Tampa Bay
Playing on consecutive nights is never easy in this league, but if there is a decent time to do so it would be after getting multiple days off. That's the spot the Montreal Canadiens find themselves in tonight as they are around +200 underdogs against Tampa Bay. The Lightning went into the holidays with the best record in the entire league and have won nine of their past 10 games overall, but have yet to face Montreal this year.
There is no question that the Lightning deserved to be priced in this range on the ML, especially if Montreal starts backup Antti Niemi (as projected) in goal. Niemi has bounced around between multiple teams this year already and has yet to win a game. However, with Niemi in net or not, a small wager on the Habs at this price may be worth a look, simply because the Lightning could be a little flat if they are caught in holiday mode still.
Vancouver Continues To Be A Fade-Worthy Team
Vancouver Canucks fans are hoping the Christmas break came at the exact right time for their team as the Canucks have really struggled during December. Many expected this drop-off for Vancouver to come after they performed well-above their heads for the first two months of the year, but with a 2-8 SU record over their last 10 games and having lost eight of their last nine overall, no bettor wants to have a piece of Vancouver at the moment.
Tonight the Canucks host a Chicago team that went into the break with some struggles as well, losing two in a row and scoring just a single goal in those contests. But the Blackhawks should be able to put things together as they begin to trek through Western Canada tonight and they've already seen significant support on the ML. Chicago's odds have been bet up to -145 after opening around -130 and it's a move I have to agree with.
Calgary Has A Tough Test In San Jose
The Calgary Flames are another team that's already seen some significant movement with their ML price tonight as early action shows some big wagers have come on the Flames this evening. Calgary opened up in the +125 range for their road game in San Jose, but they currently sit at +105 with only about 40% of the total wagers coming their way. That's significant to keep in mind as the action sportsbooks took early on made them adjust their number in a hurry to avoid getting buried at a bad price.
