2018/19 NHL Preseason Analysis

2018/19 NHL Preseason Analysis

The NHL Regular season begins one week from today and in these final preseason warmups we can wet our online gambling appetites.

NHL Preseason betting and what to look for

Will Sid the Kid suit up for the preseason Finale?

The NHL Regular season starts in 1 weeks time on Wednesday October 3rd. If you are looking to get your online betting routine primed and ready to go I would recommend a look at the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night in Columbus IF AND ONLY IF Sidney Crosby plays.

In 5 preseason games thus far the Penguins have lost 3, including their last one to the Red Wings last Sunday as a -200 Favorite. The two games they won were the only games Crosby played, a 7-3 beatdown of the Blue Jackets, and a 5-1 smashing of Buffalo.

Crosby has logged 34 minutes of ice time  thus far in the preseason and registered 3 assists.

If #87 suits up then by all means load up some money into your online sportsbook and get over the Wednesday hump.

But by and large, teams are favored by too much simply on reputation. One team that may not have to worry about that this season are the Ottawa Senators.

They just traded their best player Erik Karlsson and are thus far winless in 4 preaseaon games. One of those games was as a -140 favorite at home to the Chicago Blackhawks who they will play again tomorrow night.

That was the Blackhawks only win of this preseason. I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that the Blackhawks will be favored at home tomorrow night but these are potentially two of the worst teams on paper heading into this season, and as such suggest that you bet the Ottawa Senators tomorrow night.

No team of professional athletes wants to go winless, even in the preseason and furthermore there will be a lot of players on both sides looking to earn regular season ice time so this may turn out to be more competitive than usual.

And the team from Canada's capital will shed their goose egg and get their first W of the post Karlsson era.

That was the Blackhawks  only win of this preseason. Chicago are -180 home favorites this evening and if they win I am recommending that you bet Ottawa in their preseason finale at home to neighbours and rivals, the Montreal Canadiens
