NFL Week 1 Predictions
Here we are in Week 1 of the NFL season and it's bound to be interesting, as teams try to make a name for themselves, and start the year out with wins. With new quarterbacks entering the fray, anything is possible for Week 1, but we will look for the value so you can start off the season on a high note.
NFL Odds Week 1
We will be keeping track of our plays from week to week to promote transparency. I have an overall winning record in NFL, but of course, there will be variance, and with the small number of games in the NFL as compared to other sports, that can have an effect, but we will do our best to give you the top predictions. We will be focusing on sides ATS, and not MLs, as MLs are less stable and can lead to large bankroll swings.
Week 1 NFL Predictions
We will be focusing on 5 games this week, an NFC South Division game between the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Detroit Lions fly to Indianapolis to take on those Colts, an NFC East Division barnburner with the Dallas Cowboys hosting the Giants, the Pack taking on the Jaguars, and the Seahawks hosting the Dolphins.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Atlanta Falcons Prediction
BET TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS +3 AT SPORTSINTERACTION. Don't be fooled by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lackluster 2-2 preseason efforts. This team is excited. This team is hungry. This team is ready to surprise. With defensive tackle Gerald McCoy named a team captain, and his bustling defensive unit that unleashed 16 sacks in the preseason, look for the Atlanta Falcons to be caught with their pants down. Julio Jones is Matt Ryan's favorite option, so the Bucs will know where to look, and might get some key interceptions. We look at value here, and the odds are in our favor as well. A key stat is that over the last 3 seasons, the Hawks are 3-13 ATS as a favorite. They are also 6-9 ATS in home games over that time, while the Bucs have had a more favorable record on the road, going 9-7 ATS. As a home favorite of 3 points or less, the Falcons are an abysmal 0-4! Not only that, but the Bucs have the Hawks' number, as they are 11-5 ATS against them in Atlanta. Tampa Bay SU might be a good play, but we won't be greedy and take them ATS.
Detroit Lions @ Indianapolis Colts Prediction
BET DETROIT LIONS +4 AT SPORTSINTERACTION. No Megatron. No problem. The Detroit Lions are poised to overachieve this season, and will get off on the right foot against an overhyped Indianapolis Colts team. The Colts always come out of the gate lethargic, as evidenced by their 1-7 ATS record in Week 1. The slew of Colt injuries is also a bad sign for the team, as they will be missing players on offensive and defense. They are a formidable team when healthy, but the Lions are going to be facing a shadow of what the Indy really is. Marvin Jones will step up for the Lions now that Megatron is not an option. Even though public money is on the Colts, the line is moving the other way, so taking that into account, along with our other information, the Lions are the play here.
New York Giants @ Dallas Cowboys Prediction
BET NEW YORK GIANTS PK AT SPORTSINTERACTION. The season is sure starting out with a bang as these two NFC East rivals face off on Week 1. The big story in this one is that Tony Romo will not start for the Dallas Cowboys, as he has a back injury. It might be be less severe than previously thought, and he might make his return earlier in the season than expected, but it is certain he won't start for this game. The team went 4-12 without Romo last year. They built around him for years, and are lost without him. They were also 4-12 ATS last season, which is with the line taking Romo's absence into account, so it's best not to trust these Cowboys. Running back Ezekiel Elliot and Dak Prescott will have to play out of their minds in order to beat a determined and hungry New York Giants team. New York is also 5-2 in their last 7 at AT&T Stadium, so look for them to continue this trend against this subpar Dallas team. Take the Giants as a PK.
Green Bay Packers @ Jacksonville Jaguars Prediction
BET GREEN BAY PACKERS -5 AT SPORTSINTERACTION. Sometimes, it's not good to overthink. The Green Bay Packers are looking to come into this season strong and show dominance early, and what better opponent than the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars. Aaron Rodgers and co. are no slouches on the road, going 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games away from Lambeau. They have also have a heavy advantage against their opponents, having gone 4-2 ATS in their last 6 games in September, while Bortles' crew has gone 1-6 ATS. Another distinct advantage is that Green Bay has gone 11-5 ATS as favorites of 3.5 to 9.5 points, while the Jags have gone 2-4 ATS as an underdog of 3.5 to 7. The line is hovering around 4.5 to 5 now, so you know what to do. Take the Green Bay Packers -5. Look for them to win by at least a TD.
Miami Dolphins @ Seattle Seahawks Prediction
BET SEATTLE SEAHAWKS -10.5 AT SPORTSINTERACTION. After a disappointing 2015 season, the Seattle Seahawks are looking to bounce back this year and gain back that confidence that made them contenders in the years prior to 2015. With no significant injuries, and an improved offensive line, the Hawks are sure to give the visiting Miami Dolphins trouble. The Dolphins are terrible road warriors, going 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games, but more significantly, they are 5-16 ATS in their last 16 games overall, and 6-12 ATS as an underdog. They are just not a team that covers. Even with Seattle's mediocre year, they still are 5-2 ATS as a favorite of 10 or more points, meaning when they win, they win big. And a home opener at home against a non-threatening team like the Fins is just the place to win big.
