NFL Monday Night Predictions

Indianapolis Colts at Tennessee Titans NFL Picks

After a big win against the Seattle Seahawks in week three, the Tennessee Titans have lost two in a row, partly due to an injury to Marcus Mariota. Giving up 57 points to the Texans and losing a winnable game against the Dolphins will sting at the end of the season, especially if they lose to a Luck-less Colts this evening.

Giving up 57 points to the Texans and losing a winnable game against the Dolphins will sting at the end of the season, especially if they lose to a Luck-less Colts this evening.

The Indianapolis Colts have performed unexpectedly well without Andrew Luck, pulling off a clutch OT victory against the 49ers last week. Indianapolis has won eleven in a row against Tennessee, giving them a decent shot at a three-way tie for first in the division.

My Team's Next MatchIndianapolis Colts

When a team wins eleven in a row, factors beyond the quality of play weigh into the result. Neither NFL team has been inspiring this season, which makes a 7.5 spread on behalf of the Titans surprisingly large.

The Colts should be considered underdogs because of Luck’s injury, but they should be able to stay within a converted touchdown of the Titans.

The Colts have the worst defense in the NFL, while the Titans have the second worst defense. Expect a sloppy, high-scoring match that finishes over a predicted total of 47 points.

Indianapolis Colts at Tennessee Titans Preview

Indianapolis and Tennessee should count themselves lucky to reside in the thoroughly mediocre AFC South division. Both teams have the opportunity to fall upwards by gutting out a win on Monday night. In any other NFL division, the Colts and the Titans would already be playing catchup, with thin odds to make the playoffs. Unless a rare draw game takes place, three teams will lead the AFC South with a .500 record.

With Marcus Mariota back in the lineup, the Titans have an advantage on offense. The Titans have averaged 22 PPG this year, a number which would be better if Mariota didn’t miss time. Indianapolis produces only 19.4 PPG without Andrew Luck, who’s one of the best pivots in the league when healthy. These are the worst defenses in the NFL, which could make this matchup a high-scoring affair with neither team stopping each other’s on-field progress.

The Colts have slapped the Titans around for a few years, winning eleven in a row – an impressive, dominant streak by any measure. A quick look at the AFC and NFC East standings show that the NFL has seen surprising trends this year. On Monday night, the Colts will be considerable underdogs against the Titans, a fact which threatens to squash Indy’s winning trend against Tennessee.

A 7.5 spread for a team that hasn’t won against their opposition in years seems to be too high, even if the Titans will probably win. Typically, if bettors believe a team will win a moneyline, betting against the spread isn’t advisable. This isn’t a typical NFL matchup – both teams have horrible defense and erratic offense - even if Mariota plays, he’s unlikely to be 100%.

NFL Monday Night Football

Favorites for Monday night football have beat or pushed the spread four times. The Vikings and Chiefs missed the spread by a point for two weeks straight, while the New York Giants have been a disaster, especially during their game against the Lions.

Totals for Monday nights have mostly under, with the exception of a push in week one and an over result in week two. This matchup between the Colts and Titans promises to be one of the highest scoring Monday games this season.
