Anthony Joshua Record: 18-0 (18 KOs)
Canada Sports Betting Pick: Wladimir Klitschko (+190) at Bodog
It's the biggest heavyweight boxing bout as the greatest heavyweight boxer of his time, Wladimir Klitschko returns from an 18-month layoff to take on the next big thing in heavyweight boxing: the unbeaten Anthony Joshua. The iconic Wembley Stadium in London has already sold out all 90,000 seats as it becomes just the second boxing match to take place in the football stadium.
The main event fight is likely to start around 10:00 PM local time but it depends on how long the undercard goes for. Showtime, Joshua's exclusive American television partner will televise the fight live 4:15 PM ET while HBO, Klitschko's exclusive network will televise it separately on World Championship Boxing at 10:45 P.M. ET/PT.
Joshua opened as a slight favourite but was quickly bet down to being more than a 2-1 favourite. The wrecking machine of a boxer has demolished all his opponents without a sweat but he gets a massive step up in competition against the most dominant heavyweight fighter of his time. The Ukrainian is facing a long layoff. This ring rust coupled with his advanced age of 41 and a loss against Tyson Fury have many writing off Klitschko as a boxer who is a shell of the man he used to be.
At his prime, Klitschko was considered the best heavyweight boxer and the second-best pound-for-pound fighter behind Floyd Mayweather Jr. He was the former champion of three major sanctioning bodies having held the WBA, IBF, and WBO (twice) titles on top of the IBO, Ring magazine, and lineal heavyweight championships. He had the second longest heavyweight championship reign all time and has the second most successful title defenses for any heavyweight boxer with 23. Only the legendary Joe Louis had more. He also has defeated ten current or former world champions.

What makes Klitschko's dominance more impressive is how he's built as an athlete. He isn't the fastest, hardest hitting, or most athletic boxer. Instead, his strategic and cerebral approach has paved his success as he usually outsmarts stronger and faster opponents. His main weapons are his jab, straight right hand, and left hook. Against the aggressive Joshua, he'll have to keep him at bay setting up his jab and straight right. Klitschko is not a power puncher but the big man still has heavy hands and will force the young buck to respect his power.
The undefeated Joshua recently won the IBF title in a scintillating knockout of Charles Martin. He also previously held the British and Commonwealth heavyweight titles from 2015 to 2016. The Brit has a 100% knockout-to-win ratio and as an amateur, represented his country at the 2012 Summer Olympics where he won a gold medal in the super-heavyweight division. e is only the second British boxer after James DeGale to win both an Olympic gold medal and a major professional boxing title and is currently ranked as the fifth-best heavyweight by The Ring magazine.
Joshua is getting a big push to the spotlight thanks to being the complete package. His best wins have come over Eric Molina and Dominic Breazeale, not exactly world beaters but the way he effortlessly ran through them is telling. Joshua hits hard but is also patient knowing exactly when to step in to throw heavy. He's got great boxing instincts and has superb size with long arms. If he has any weaknesses, it's how he handles a step up against a more experienced fighter and how his chin holds.

In a near 50/50 fight, it's dog or pass especially considering the more proven fighter is close to a 2-1 underdog. The time to bet Joshua has passed (unless he's parlayed) as he's relatively unproven and has plenty of question marks. The kid is a legitimate threat but he's been fighting outmatched opponents. Klitschko, despite being past-his-prime is still the craftier fighter and has faced powerful aggressive boxers like Joshua before. This is also considering he got the best of the kid when they sparred three years ago.
