EPL Week 3 Predictions
Premier League Games This Weekend
Jose Mourinho is in year two of his Manchester United project and at the moment he has exactly what he had in year two of his last job at Chelsea; an early cushion. In the 2014/15 season when Chelsea won the Premier League and the League Cup with the Special One in charge, they stormed out of the gates and didn't lose a single match in any competition until December. Once his club bulit a comfortable lead, the Blues cruised to title...
So far in 2 games the Red Devils have looked great at home and good on the road en route to two convincing 4-0 victories. The big names on the team sheet, Pogba and Lukaku feel good, and when stars feel good, they play at a high level. Add to this the fact that all of the other teams in last year's top 6 have already dropped points, which means that Mourinho has a chance to create some daylight. As a manager this is where he excels.
English Premier League Picks Week 3
Manchester United vs Leicester
One of these teams has title winning credentials, the other is Manchester United.
It sounds weird but United are still living off the history of the Ferguson era and need to officially regain their status amongst the world's elite. They took a few baby steps last year, and now is the time to go for the big one. And how does one do that? Mourinho's formula has been very simple over the years - Don't drop points against the big teams and maximize your point versus the smaller clubs. And this United team is built to destroy the smaller clubs. Romelu Lukaku has found the back of the net 5 times in 7 career games vs. Leicester.
So when Leicester visits the Theatre of Dreams this Saturday August 26th at 12:30pm EST, don't expect anything but the United team that flew out of the gates against West Ham on the opening weekend. With Matic helping form a strong spine to the team and Bailly one of the few centre backs who can keep up with the speedy Vardy, it looks like it could be a long day for the Foxes who shipped 4 goals at the Emirates a couple weeks back.

Tottenham vs Burnley
Can Spurs finally win a Premier League game at Wembley?
I can't see Burnley offering much this weekend. If Tottenham are thought to struggle on the larger dimensions of their new field then what of Burnley? Burnley are specialists at playing on the narrow dimensions of Turf Moor where they won the majority of their points last season.
Away from home they were quite awful. Furthermore Burnley sold arguably their 2 best players this offseason in defender Michael Keane and striker Andre Gray.Â
Their week 1 performance at Stamford Bridge, also a smaller pitch, feels to me like an outlier where as last week against a stout West Brom side they failed to register a shot on target even after having two-thirds possession. One would expect Tottenham to have at least that much possession this Sunday. And with that much of the ball against a side that won't offer much going forward it will only be a matter of huffing and puffing before Spurs blow the doors down.
PICK: Tottenham to win and keep a clean sheet (-125) on William Hill
La Liga: Las Palmas vs Atletico Madrid
This line feels like a steal. In 4 career La Liga meetings between these sides Atletico Madrid are 4-0 and have outscored Las Palmas 10-0. Add that to the fact that Diego Simeone will be absolutely fuming after last weekend's performance at Girona in which they were vastly outplayed by a newly promoted side for the majority of the game.
However after being outplayed, being down 2-0 and losing Griezmann to a red card, Atleti still showed the fight to come back and score twice whilst down a man to steal a point. Las Palmas who simply can not match this team on talent or coaching will fall once more.
PICK: Atletico Madrid (-130) on BODOG
