College Football Props: 2016 Heisman Trophy Odds

College Football Props: 2016 Heisman Trophy Odds

      2016 NCAAF Heisman Trophy Odds

It’s never a surprise to see a Heisman Trophy candidate list packed with pivots. Dating back to the 2000 NCAAF season, when Florida State quarterback Chris Weinke won the award, 13 of the past 16 Heisman winners have been pivots. Alabama RB Derrick Henry broke a streak of five straight QB winners when he took home the award in 2015. While earning a Heisman is a fantastic personal achievement, that is usually followed by big NFL bucks, it doesn't guarantee that the winners will achieve success at the next level. The Redskins and Browns can certainly attest to that recently.

Topping the 2016 Heisman Trophy futures betting board, Louisiana Cardinals QB Lamar Jackson is currently the odds on favourite with a -190 money line. It’s difficult to argue Jackson’s chalk status as the Cardinals dual-threat pivot has amassed 1,806 passing yards (15 TD) and 832 rushing yards (15) while leading Louisville to a 5-1 record this season.

      College Football Props Betting Tips

Ohio State QB J.T. Barrett rounds out the top three Heisman hopefuls with a +750 money line odds. Barrett has recorded 1,641 total yards and 22 scores while leading the Buckeyes to a 6-0 record so far in 2016. Jabrill Peppers, who is listed as a defensive back but plays everywhere for the Michigan Wolverines, comes in fourth with a +900 ML price. The odds move into quad-digits from there as Washington Huskies QB Jake Long (+1000) Alabama QB Jalen Hurts (+1600) Florida State RB Dalvin Cook (+3300) Houston QB Greg Ward Jr. (+3300) and Stanford RB Christian McCaffery (+5000) also get longshot Heisman Trophy recognition from bookmakers at the top sportsbooks.

If there were an officially recognized “proposition season” this would be it as online sportsbooks are packed with prop offerings right now. While it’s getting late, MLB World Series props for the Dodgers and Cubs are still up and more will be added for the Fall Classic once the National League representative is determined. NFL regular season, playoff, Super Bowl and individual game props are plentiful as are proposition offers for the NHL and NBA which are both just getting their seasons started. As far as the Heisman Trophy is concerned, bettors who want to back Louisville QB Lamar Jackson need to act quickly. That's because, at the time of writing, Jackson has four touchdowns and the Cardinals are crushing NC State 44-0 at halftime.
