2016 NFC South Futures Betting Lines
The NFC South might not seem like it will be that competitive on paper, but some of these sleeper teams might surprise. The Carolina Panthers are coming in at -250 to win the division, and with their talent, it seems like the fight with the New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, will be for second place. But even if Cam Newton's team seems like they have this in the bag, do they deserve to be -250? And could there be some value betting on another team?
2016 NFL NFC South Outright Betting Lines
The truth is, the Panthers had their Super Bowl appearance, so the books are naturally overvaluing them this time around. They should sit at around -160 to -190, which does still favor them. It will be difficult to repeat what they did last year, even to win the division because of how different their opponents are. Carolina was also by not having any significant injuries last season, and in this league, we can't expect that to continue. The team overachieved and let themselves down on the biggest stage, so we have to pass on Cam Newton's Cats as outright winner. We will most likely even be fading them ATS at some points.
Bet Atlanta Falcons +550 On Sports Interaction
The Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan didn't play that well the past two seasons, but they do have everything they need to make a push to win the division. Devonta Freeman will have a great year as running back, as Matt Ryan finds his form again. The Saints have revamped their defense this year, getting rid of their defensive coordinator, and have numerous players with the experience to take the team all the way.
2016/17 NFL Schedule and Betting Lines
With the longest odds of winning the division, we have the Buccaneers. This team is expected to just lay over, but they will definitely surprise. Jameis Winston will be improving, and even though they ended the season 6-10 last year, they were ranked 5th in total offense and 11th in total defense. There was a lot of controversy with Lovie Smith's firing, but replacing him with Dirk Koetter could prove to be a clutch move. Koetter used to be the Panthers' offensive coordinator, so he could bring some knowledge back with him. The Bucs should no doubt be a secondary bet at +650 at Sports Interaction. But if you have th guts to just take one, go with the Atlanda Falcons at +550. This won't be Carolina's year.
