2016 AFC West Futures Betting Lines

2016 AFC West Futures Betting Lines

The AFC West is going to be the most exciting division to watch, as all teams have a shot of winning. Last season, a mere Jamaal Charles fumble leading to a Denver Broncos touchdown was all that kept the Kansas City Chiefs from winning the division. While it is impossible to determine how every bounce will go, we will be basing our pick on value, as usual. If you already picked the Oakland Raiders as a value pick to win the AFC outright, it's best to go with another team here, as there is less value.

AFC West Odds - Sports Interaction

The Denver Broncos are coming in at +192 at Sports Interaction, but there isn't enough to merit making this a pick. Having won the Super Bowl, they might be less thirsty for another title. Most teams that repeat winning championships don't change their core so dramatically. They have lost a lot of starters from their championship team, most noticeably Peyton Manning. Mark Sanchez or Trevor Siemian will most likely be the Broncos' QB, but this already places them far down on the offensive list compared to the likes of Alex Smith, Derek Carr, and Philip Rivers. Gary Kubiak doesn't have the experience to deal with such big changes from last year. Stay away from them at the current price.

Bet San Diego Chargers +649 On Sports Interaction

Last season, the Chiefs played better without star running back Jamaal Charles, starting the year badly, but ending the season at 11-5. With Charles back in the lineup, could this mean another bad start? If his injury helped the rest of the team get behind him emotionally and play better, they could get it done this year. If Charles just doesn't mesh with the team, we will find out in the first few weeks. Not many changes were made to the team in the offseason, so this team seems to be the most predictable. Look for Alex Smith to dominate yet again, and look for coach Andy Reid to get his defense in line. The Chiefs are looking good to win it, but at +168, there is no value, unfortunately.

If there is one team who will be vastly improved over last year, it will be the San Diego Chargers. As with the other teams in the division, a few bad bounces decided their fate. Going 4-12 last season, they lost 10 of those by one possession. The bad luck, plus the extensive injuries that plagued them throughout the season is what was responsible for their terrible campaign. RB Melvin Gordon, the 2015 first round pick, will be looking for his first touchdown, and receiver Keenan Allan will be returning from a kidney injury with something to prove. As stated before, this division is the closest to predict, and chance plays a large factor, so this is why we are going with the value pick of Chargers +649 at Sports Interaction.
