2016 AFC South Futures Betting Lines

2016 AFC South Futures Betting Lines

The AFC South was the worst division last season, with their winning team, the Houston Texans getting decimated 30-0 by the Kansas City Chiefs in the Wild Card game. This division might not carry the same talent as some other divisions, but they are definitely improving. With the bar set so low, these four teams don't really stand out from each other, and with so much uncertainty at this point in the season, it is tough to go with the flow and pick the favorite here.

2016 NFL AFC South Outright Betting Lines

AFC South Odds - Sports Interaction

The Indianapolis Colts are coming in at +130 at Sports Interaction to win the division. The way things are now, there is no value there. Coach Chuck Pagano was on the verge of being fired last season, and it would be tough for him to come back and simply fix all his faults. QB Andrew Luck could have a great season, but he cannot carry the team forever. He has in the past, but this year, the rest of the AFC South could give him problems. Not only that, but having signed the biggest contract in NFL history, maybe he won't be as hungry.

We'll have to see how their new offensive line holds up. Indy's defense is also in shambles. They are aging, and will be missing key linemen when the season starts. They were ranked 25th against the run last season, and there haven't been a lot of improvements made to remedy that. At this point, you should take a pass on betting the Colts.

Bet Jacksonville Jaguars +300 On Sports Interaction

The Houston Texans want to do even better than last year after winning the division. Coming in at +195, would that be a good bet? With J.J. Watt out there, the Texans' defense is top notch. He will most likely be missing part of the season (at least Week 1) because of back surgury though.

The Texan defense has some stars, but not a lot of depth, and these stars will be worn down as the season progresses. Having gone through four QBs last season, they settled on Brock Osweiler as their starter for this year. Being such a giant question mark, it's best to avoid betting on the Texans right now until we see more from them. The Tennessee Titans won't be in the running, and are looking to the future to rebuild their team arond QB Marcus Mariota if he proves to be more consistent.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are touted to be much improved from last season. They haven't been playing up to par, but look for them to shine through this year. At +300 there is good value in taking this team. They have an impressive roster this year, and while not better than the Texans or Colts, the severe uncertainty around those teams gives the Jaguars a ton of value. Blake Bortles can be an offensive machine when he wants to and with the other teams' defensive problems, maybe they can cause some issues. Take the Jaguars at +300 at Sports Interaction.
