NBA Picks: Conference Quarterfinals Odds For April 22, 2017
Toronto Raptors vs. Milwaukee Bucks NBA Playoff Odds
Toronto Raptors Regular Season Record: 51-31
Milwaukee Bucks Regular Season Record: 42-40
Canada Sports Betting Pick: Milwaukee Bucks (-135) at Bodog
Toronto played one of their worst games in franchise history, completely dominated by Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks. The length and physicality of Bucks youngsters has completely frustrated the Raptors, making all-star DeMar DeRozan look confused on both ends of the court. Rarely does a young squad hold the fifth leading scorer in the NBA to zero made field goals.
For all intents and purposes, this is a must win game for the current version of the Raptors franchise, and all signs point to disappointment for Toronto. This isn’t the first time that Jason Kidd has outcoached Dwane Casey. Bucks youngsters are playing to their ceiling, while Raptors veterans aren’t performing close to their potential.
Toronto’s won one afternoon playoff game over the past three years, and it’s unlikely they’ll earn a second today in Milwaukee. The Bucks will take a commanding 3-1 lead in this series, revealing themselves as a real contender in the east.
Washington Wizards vs. Atlanta Hawks NBA Playoff Odds
Washington Wizards Season Record: 49-33
Atlanta Hawks Season Record: 43-39
Canada Sports Betting Pick: Washington Wizards (+115) at Bodog
The backcourt wizardry of John Wall continues unabated, slicing and dicing the Atlanta Hawks defense into salty cold cuts. He teamed up with Bradley Beal to combine for 63 points and 12 assists, including 6-12 from the three-point line. Washington’s guard combo soundly routed Dennis Schroder and Tim Hardaway Jr., both of whom struggled from the field.
Washington’s defense ended up being the difference in this game, gathering 10 steals and blocking 11 shots, including 5 by Marcin Gortat, who also chipped in a tidy 14 points on 7-10 shooting. Even with the heroics of the incomparable Paul Milsap, the Atlanta Hawks will have difficulty winning a game this series. Don’t expect a brick from Wall against Atlanta, as the Wizards sweep their way into the next round.
San Antonio Spurs vs. Memphis Grizzlies NBA Playoff Odds
San Antonio Spurs Regular Season Record: 61-21
Memphis Grizzlies Regular Season Record: 43-39
Canada Sports Betting Pick: San Antonio Spurs (-220) at Bodog
You have to give Memphis Grizzlies respect for actually winning a game this series. Not only did they manage to take a game, but they did so in convincing fashion, putting the result out of the Spurs reach by the third quarter. San Antonio’s vaunted defense took a step back, allowing a mediocre offense to score 105 points on 50.6% shooting.
Coach Gregg Popovich has better things to do than watch a series extended to six games because of a lack of defensive execution. San Antonio should return to their stalwart ways, holding Zach Randolph and Mike Conley to pedestrian performances. Also, the fact that the Grizzlies started Vince Carter for 36 minutes hints at the lack of personnel depth for Memphis. Expect a double digit win by the Spurs.
Golden State Warriors vs. Portland Trail Blazers NBA Playoff Odds
Golden State Warriors Season Record: 67-15
Portland Trail Blazers Season Record: 41-41
Canada Sports Betting Pick: Golden State Warriors (-255) at Bodog
The Golden State Warriors didn’t need Kevin Durant to survive the onslaught of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum. If anything, the Warriors thrived without KD, crushing the Trail Blazers by a score of 110-81. Draymond Green showed why he’s one of the best players in the NBA, earning 12 rebounds and 10 assists, along with three blocks and a steal.
The blowout was a sign of pure team play by the Warriors – five players finished in double digits for scoring, and nobody from Golden State scored more than 19 points. In terms of defense, Golden State rendered Lillard and McCollum helpless, resulting in JaVale McGee scoring more than either of the Splash Cousins. Bet on Golden State to romp through game 3.
