NBA Picks: Conference Quarterfinals Odds For April 21, 2017
Boston Celtics vs. Chicago Bulls NBA Playoff Odds
Boston Celtics Season Record: 53-29
Chicago Bulls Season Record: 41-41
Canada Sports Betting Pick: Boston Celtics (-115) at Bodog
The Boston Celtics are in tough against a Chicago Bulls squad which features two former all-stars and NBA champions who have suddenly found their young man game. Rajon Rondo, Robin Lopez and Dwayne Wade have been providing the support Jimmy Butler never received from Derek Rose over the past few years, elevating the Bulls to a 2-0 lead above a Celtics team which appeared to give up in game 2. In fact, Rondo’s play has unlocked a Bulls configuration which the Celtics couldn’t match, creating a balanced attack which featured six players scoring in double digits.
Even worse, talk of the Celtics being the worst first seed in the history of the east continues to get louder. Chicago appears to be playing their best basketball of the year, perfectly timing their rise for the post season. There’s no reason to expect a sudden course change from the Celtics. The Bulls should win at home.
***UPDATE: Rajon Rondo has been diagnosed with a fractured thumb, and will be out indefinitely. This swings the tide towards the Celtics, who will take advantage of this lucky break to win game 3.
Houston Rockets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder NBA Playoff Odds
Houston Rockets Season Record: 55-27
Oklahoma City Thunder Season Record: 47-35
Canada Sports Betting Pick: Houston Rockets (+110) at Bodog
Russell Westbrook once again produced an insane one-man performance, pulling off a 51-point triple double to lead his Oklahoma City Thunder squad to a four-point loss. Fortunately for the Houston Rockets, Westbrook hit only 17 of 43 shots, including 2-11 from the three-point line. Victor Oladipo hit only 4-17, including a horrible 1-7 from three, submarining the Thunder offense.
It’s clear that the main difference between the two squads consists of the support that their MVP players receive. James Harden has a group of shooters and defenders he can rely on, while Russell Westbrook doesn’t enjoy the same level of contribution from his squad. Russ giving way too much while his team offers too little is the dominant theme of this series. Expect the Rockets to silence the crowd by bombing away at long range, earning a 3-0 stranglehold on the series.
Los Angeles Clippers vs. Utah Jazz NBA Playoff Odds
Los Angeles Clippers Regular Season Record: 51-31
Utah Jazz Regular Season Record: 51-31
Canada Sports Betting Pick: Los Angeles Clippers (-125) at Bodog
Rudy Gobert is one of the favorites for NBA defensive player of the year, and the Utah Jazz will once again miss his presence in the paint in game three. Game two saw the Clippers completely dominate the Jazz below the charity stripe, which turned out to be the difference in the game. In fact, it’s a bit of a surprise and a compliment to the Jazz that they lost by only eight without Gobert.
Expect the Los Angeles Clippers to continue to ram the ball through the low post and in the key, overwhelming the Jazz down low. If Los Angeles shoots better than 30% from the three-point line, the game will be over quickly. The Jazz need another poor perimeter performance from the Clippers to have a remote shot at winning.
