Cavaliers vs Celtics NBA Playoff Predictions Game 4

Celtics vs Cavs Game 4

My Team's Next MatchCleveland Cavaliers

Avery Bradley hit iron on his three-point attempt as time was winding down, and the collective basketball world exhaled because the most ridiculous upset in recent NBA playoff history was averted. But Bradley’s three hopped up and spun on the rim at a fortunate angle, and the ball rattled and rolled in with point-zero-one seconds remaining.

The Celtics had done the impossible, after all. Not only did they beat the Cavaliers in Cleveland without Isaiah Thomas, but they won after facing a 21-point deficit at the end of the first half. Even with a lineup at full strength, returning from that great a deficit against a LeBron James team is next to impossible. Of course, the one player who had a notably terrible game was the King himself – James scored only 11 points, hitting 4-13 field goal attempts. During the rest of the 2017 playoffs, he averaged 34.3 points per game with a 57% FG%.

Marcus Smart performed one of many miracles in game three, hitting an incredible 7-10 from beyond the arc. This despite his status as an inconsistent three point shooter with a career average of 29.1%. Don't expect game three to repeat – instead, appreciate the fact that you witnessed an incredible upset, and expect a massacre in game 4.

Celtics vs Cavs Money Line

The moneylines are once again a dumpster fire, appropriate for those who invest in high-risk, or low reward betting scenarios. You'll need to bet about $100 to win $4 on the Cavaliers. Wagering on Boston will multiply your bet by more than thirteen times, but the likelihood of another miracle remains slim. If you're wagering on Cleveland beating the point spread, you'll take on more risk, but enjoy a far better payout than the current moneylines. If you're stringing a parley together, betting on Cleveland is a quick way to raise the payout, and little else.

Prediction: Cleveland (1.04) @Sports Interaction

Celtics vs Cavs Point Spread

The point spread for game four sits at 15, which is a slight dip from the previously predicted massacre of 17.5. A victory margin of 15 represents a win of five possessions or more, which is a more likely scenario than a victory under the spread. LeBron James isn't going to have another unusual evening, and the rest of the Cavaliers want to avoid the embarrassing outcome of the previous match. In game four, the Celtics will probably start the same, relinquishing a large lead early. This time, Cleveland won't let their foot off the pedal, clamping down on any pretence of a comeback.

Prediction: Cleveland (1.91) @Sports Interaction

Celtics vs Cavs Totals

The over/under for the series has trended towards the under for two consecutive games. Totals for game four rest at 218.5, another high bar for both teams to clear. However, given the bizarre sluggishness of LeBron James and the Cavs offence in game three, expect the opposite as Cleveland looks to crush any doubt in their abilities as an elite NBA squad. Cleveland should be able to score 120-130 points, and the Celtics should hover around 100. Betting over appears to be the safer wager this evening.

Prediction: Pick Over (1.91) @Sports Interaction

Odds To Win The NBA Eastern Conference

The outcome of the eastern conference finals hasn't really changed much, even if game three was miraculously stolen by the Boston Celtics. Most of the planet, if not nearly everyone, believes that the Cavaliers will advance to the NBA Finals. Boston will struggle to earn a second win, even when they return home to TD Garden for game five, an event no one believed would be necessary.

If anything, game three showed that the Celtics are in good hands, with the likelihood of a great team just around the corner. The intelligence and toughness of Boston's lineup, along with the genius play calling and strategizing of coach Brad Stevens, will propel the franchise to plenty of deep playoff runs over the next decade.

In the meantime, the Cavaliers will regroup and refocus on regaining the lethal playoff edge that they displayed during the first ten games of the 2017 postseason. Expect LeBron to have a strong bounce back performance in game 4, reasserting himself as the true MVP of the eastern conference. James will earn his seventh straight finals appearance, even if it takes an extra game or two.
