Best World Series Futures
Sports Interaction’s oddsmaker hit the nail on the nose with their top teams to win the 2018 World Series. The Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros have been the best teams in baseball this season, and each franchise makes a strong case they can win the 2018 World Series.

Why the Boston Red Sox (+350) will Win the World Series
Although the Boston Red Sox have cooled off from their torrid pace earlier in the season, the franchise remains the favourite to take home the 2018 World Series. It is not that difficult to understand why the Bosox enter September as the favourites.
The Red Sox lead the Majors in runs scored, batting averaging, OPS and doubles
The Red Sox also have the top candidate to win the American League CY Young Award. Despite missing the last month, Chris Sale is the best pitcher in the AL this season.
His ERA of 1.97 leads the league, while his WHIP of 0.846 since Pedro Martinez set the league record in 2000 (with a WHIP of 0.737).
If the Red Sox can find a little more consistency from their second and third starter, no team in baseball is a better bet to win the 2018 World Series.
Why the Houston Astros (+400) will Win the World Series
While hitting is a big part of baseball, pitching is just as important, and no team has been as good at pitching this season as the Houston Astros. The one-two punch of Justin Verlander and Garrett Cole have helped the Houston Astros lead the Majors with a team ERA of only 3.10. Their team bullpen ERA is even better, leading the league at 2.97.
Of course, you should not sleep on Houston’s offence. The Houston’s offence this season has helped the club post the best run differential in the Majors this season.
Also, if you like advanced statistics, Houston’s team WAR (wins above replacement) is slightly ahead of Boston and their 111 OPS+ (OPS adjusted per ballpark) is tied with Boston’s for best in baseball.
Who Will Win the 2018 World Series?
Betting on either team is a smart bet and at their current prices wagering $100 on one and hedging the other team with $50 guarantees a profit if either team wins. However, if you only want to bet on one, the edge goes to Houston. Pitching wins out in the playoffs and if there is any chance Chris Sale re-injuries his shoulder, Boston may not have the depth on the mound to beat some of the top offences in baseball.
National League Pennant Winner Odds
While we are currently predicting an American League team will win the World Series, someone from the National League will still make it.
The National League has been very competitive this season. No team is running away with a Division, and there is an outside chance the Chicago Cubs are the only team to win 90 games in the National League (compared to five in the American League). While the Cubs are a good pick to represent the NL in the World Series for the second time in three years, at their current price, there are better options to wager.
Colorado Rockies (+700) to Win NL Pennant
At the time of writing this, it is not the Los Angeles Dodgers or the Arizona Diamondbacks that lead the NL West, it is the Colorado Rockies. While the Rockies are known for this hitter field ballpark and high-offensive output, their offence is not the main reason for the team’s strong 2018 performance
In fact, the Los Angeles Dodgers have hit more home runs and scored more home runs than Colorado this season.
So, how are the Rockies doing so well and why should you bet on them to win the National League balance? One word – balance. The Rockies have one of the best defensive infields in baseball, with D.J. LeMahieu and Nolan Arenado each being a likely Gold Glove winner. They also have the NL in saves in closer Wade Davis, whose excellent postseason success should help him overcome some late-summer jitters.
Add in starting pitcher Kyle Freeland (who could finish top-five in NL CY Young voting) and German Marquez (who is having a very underrated season), and the Rockies have enough talent in about every aspect of the game to win the National League Pennant.
