Blue Jays vs Yankees MLB Spring Training Preview and Prediction

Blue Jays vs Yankees MLB Spring Training Preview and Prediction

Blue Jays vs Yankees Spring Training Odds

My Team's Next MatchToronto Blue Jays

After their win in their preseason opener, the Toronto Blue Jays have slid to 1-3 in their Spring Training campaign. Their game on Monday against the Rays didn't go exactly as planned, but they are actively trying to figure out the holes and improve their team.

Case in point, the signing of Seung-hwan Oh which was confirmed later on during the day. Say what you will about their performance last season, but with if the Jays offense stays healthy, their pitching is well above average and should cause some ruckus in the AL East.

Ryan Borucki started Monday's game and did his job. He went for 2.0 IP with a K and a BB, including a double play ball. The rest of the Jays pitchers kept them in the game, but Matt Dermody gave up five runs on four hits and a walk which gave the Rays a 7-4 win. Chris Archer only allowed one hit in his two innings of play. The Toronto offense was out a bit more than usual though, with prospects Anthony Alford and Dwight Smith homering.

On the other end, the New York Yankees are a perfect 4-0 in the preseason and are coming off a win 4-3 against the Phillies on Monday at George M. Steinbrenner Field, in a game which Sonny Gray started. They look to keep it going and make it 5-0 on Tuesday.

If you've been with us since the beginning, our record now stands at 2-1 as we took the Rays as short favorites last game.

Take the Yankees at -120 at Bet365

  • WHEN: Feb. 27 at 1:07pm ET
  • WHERE: Dunedin Stadium in Dunedin, FL

This game will prove pretty difficult for the Jays. They could have a chance if this was a regular season game, but Chad Green and Marco Estrada will be on short leashes. Green is a reliever so the low amount of innings for him should work out well. And let's not forget, the 26-year-old was a perfect 5-0 on the Yankees in 2017. In those 69 IP, he held a 1.83 ERA and a 6.06 SO/BB ratio. Green can get through this minor league Blue Jays team if need be. And if the Yanks start their big bats, it could mean bad news for the home side.

Marco Estrada had a decent winning season in 2017, going 10-9 with a 4.98 ERA. It's a far cry from his 13-8 season in 2015 which got him an All-Star slot the following year, but Estrada is projected to keep declining, even though it will be slow. That being said, the 34-year-old should perform well during his start here, but as usual, look for a Blue Jay to implode and give the Yankees the win. Yes, they are just that good and should have a great preseason and good regular season as well.

The Jays just aren't worth it at such a bad price. The Bombers are the play here at -120 at Bet365 and Canada's team will fall to 1-4. Their next game is Wednesday against the Phillies, so maybe look for them to bounce back there, but this isn't their spot.

Handicapping MLB Starting Pitchers For Baseball Betting
Major League Baseball revolves around pitching, more so when the playoffs roll around in October. Contenders with big bats and slick fielders will only go as far as their pitching staff allows. As such, handicapping starting pitchers reveals the odds that a team will win an individual ballgame. Baseball clubs with the best starting pitchers have a much greater chance of winning pennants and World Series rings.
