Blue Jays vs. Red Sox Odds: Tuesday Night Baseball Picks
It's Tuesday night baseball and the Boston Red Sox (8-5) visit the Toronto Blue Jays (2-10) to open up a 3 game series at Rogers Centre. Marcus Stroman takes the mound for the home side, while Triple A call up Brian Johnson toes the rubber for Boston. First pitch is at 7:07pm ET.

Boston Red Sox Probable Pitchers: Johnson, Brian
Toronto Blue Jays Probable Pitchers: Stroman, Marcus (1-1, 1.76 ERA)
Canada Sports Betting Pick: Toronto Blue Jays (-165) at Sports Interaction

Hopefully a much needed day off on Monday will give the Toronto Blue Jays (2-10) time to reflect on their situation. Barely two weeks into the season, the Jays have the worst record in the league, even underperforming our already pessimistic season preview of the Canadian team.

They are dealing with injuries to Josh Donaldson, Aaron Sanchez, and are expecting J.A. Happ to be placed on the DL as well. The Boston Red Sox (8-5) come into this game riding a 3 game winning streak, and are sitting 3rd in the AL East.

RH Marcus Stroman (1-1, 1.76 ERA) starts for the Blue Birds, and thankfully for them, he's been efficient. After holding Tampa Bay to a single run in 6.2 innings for a win, he also had a complete game, giving up only 2 runs in a hard knock loss in his last outing. He's been consistent so far, so there's no reason to fade him in this spot, especially considering his record against Boston, going 4-1 against them in 7 starts, with a 4.40 ERA.

Eduardo Rodriguez was supposed to start for the visitors, but was placed on the paternity list, so they recalled LH Brian Johnson from Triple A Pawtucket to make his second ever career start. The last time was in 2015. He's spent time away from baseball battling anxiety as well, but whether that affects his performance is up in the air.

MLB Picks Today - April 18, 2017

Even with the abysmal way the Jays are playing right now, they merit a play here. They're offense is still nowhere where it needs to be, but with Stroman on the mound, he should be able to shut down the Boston offense. He's 4-1 in his last 5 home starts against them.

Another trend to note, is that the Red Sox are 0-7 in their last 7 games against a right hander. As for their pitching, Johnson is a wild card, but doesn't look like he'll pose too much of a problem. Bautista could get his first homer of the season, and this could be the beginnings of the Toronto offense clicking. Take the Toronto Blue Jays at -165 at Sports Interaction.

Handicapping MLB Starting Pitchers For Baseball Betting
Major League Baseball revolves around pitching, more so when the playoffs roll around in October. Contenders with big bats and slick fielders will only go as far as their pitching staff allows. As such, handicapping starting pitchers reveals the odds that a team will win an individual ballgame. Baseball clubs with the best starting pitchers have a much greater chance of winning pennants and World Series rings.
