CFL Picks Week 20
CFL Football Games This Week
Opening with a relatively meaningless match, the Alouettes and Tiger-Cats end their seasons with a redo of their Week 18 contest. Things get much more serious after that though as the Friday Night doubleheader closes with Winnipeg visiting a winter wonderland at McMahon Stadium in Calgary at 9:30 PM ET. The Saturday double-dip opens at 7:00 PM ET when Saskatchewan hosts Edmonton at Mosaic Stadium and closes when Toronto aims to lock down first place in the East as they battle the BC Lions at 10:00 PM ET at BC Place in Vancouver. Ottawa is enjoying a pre-playoff BYE week.
Calgary enjoying a Division Final BYE, and then hosting the Western Final, are the only determined playoff scenarios as we roll into Week 20. In the East, an Argos win clinches first, a BYE, plus home field advantage in the CFL Eastern Final Ottawa “earns” those rights if the Lions tame Toronto. Playoff positioning in the West remains largely undecided. Winnipeg can finish second or third, Edmonton can claim second, third, or the crossover spot, while Saskatchewan can capture third in the West or play in the East Semi-Final next week. Our previews below expand on all of the remaining scenarios.
CFL Predictions Today and Week 19 Review
Disappointed in ourselves on one pick, unlucky on another, plus a big price cover and a home-pup cash, led us to 3-1-0 S/U and 2-2-0 ATS marks during Week 19. We talked ourselves out of taking points in the Hamilton vs Ottawa game and were lucky to get a straight up win as the Redblacks scored late to top the Tiger-Cats 41-36 at home. It was unlucky that Winnipeg lost QB Matt Nichols early as both his backups are bad and the Blue Bombers offense did not score during their 36-27 loss to the BC Lions. The ‘Riders covering their -17 price, with a 37-12 win over the Alouettes, and the Eskimos winning 29-20 as home pups vs the slumping Stampeders rounded out our week.
CSB Money Line & ATS Week 19 Results: 3-1-0 and 2-2-0 Overall: 54-21-1 and 39-36-2
- Montreal at Hamilton Pick: Tiger-Cats -14 (-110) ATS at Bodog
Mildly surprised this game is even on CFL betting boards, Hamilton closes their season as -14 (-110) home chalk at Bodog vs Montreal. The Tiger-Cats are on a eight-game "win one - lose one" roll and face an Alouettes squad that has lost ten straight. The Als have been outscored by a 388-152 margin during their season ending tank job. Hamilton was tiny -3.5 road chalk two weeks ago and they mauled Montreal 46-13 in that match. Since this game plays out in Steel City - the Cats should be motivated in front of their season-ticket holders. Lay the monster line and back Hamilton here.
Final Score: Hamilton Tiger-Cats 33-0
- Winnipeg at Calgary Pick: Blue Bombers +8.5 (-110) ATS at William Hill
Forecasting the Winnipeg vs Calgary contest is a dicey deal. While the field is protected prior to the match - a recent dump of snow, plus cold temperatures, will make the turf at McMahon Stadium slick. While not good for either team - Calgary will pull starters first as they're in stay healthy mode. Winnipeg needs a win, or an Edmonton loss, to host the West Semi-Final next weekend. Backup pivots Andrew Buckley vs Dan LeFevour (and/or Dominique Davis) isn't exactly awe-inspiring. Back the Bombers straight up and with +8.5 (-110) ATS price posted at the William Hill sportsbook.
Final Score: Winnipeg Blue Bombers 23-5
- Edmonton at Saskatchewan Pick: Eskimos +3.5 (-110) ATS at SportsInteraction
After the Bombers stomped the Stamps last night - the West playoff picture is more in focus. The winner here claims third place while the loser crosses over to the East. Adding a twist, this contest could be a preview of the 105th Grey Cup - which would be the first time two West Division teams tussled for the CFL title. The 'Riders rolled into Edmonton and ripped the Esks 54-31 in Week 10 but the Eskimos are vastly improved since that thumping. SportsInteraction has the Roughriders listed as -3.5 (-110) home chalk and we like the recharged Eskimos winning outright at Mosaic Stadium.
Final Score: Edmonton Eskimos 28-13
- Toronto at British Columbia Pick: Argonauts -1 (-110) ATS at Bet365
Closing out the 2017 CFL regular season, Toronto is in British Columbia as the Argos look to lock down first in the East with a win over the Lions. BC won the first meeting this season as the Lions posted a 28-13 victory in Toronto. That said, the Argonauts won 25-14 during their last visit to BC Place on July 7, 2016. Both teams are coming off a win vs Winnipeg as Ricky Ray & Crew beat the Bombers 29-28 at home in Week 18 and the Leos won 36-27 on the road last week. Toronto is -1 (-110) road chalk at Bet365 and, considering what's at stake, we are sailling with the Boatmen.
Final Score: Toronto Argonauts 40-13

Congratulations to the Houston Astros who defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3 during an epic 2017 World Series battle. The Boys of Summer will now hibernate for the winter but the 2018 MLB Fall Classic futures odds are posted for everyone's viewing pleasure here. Although the "Significant Seven" is reduced to the "Studly Six" the North American sports betting scene continues to sizzle. There is a lot going on as the NCAAF National Championship charge is in full flight - plus "do or die" contests are starting to pop up with the second half of the NFL regular season now upon us.
Canadian MLS fans are feeling half-full after Seattle punted Vancouver from the playoffs this week. Toronto FC is a rock solid "last hope" though as the Reds need a draw or win vs the NY Red Bulls to advance to the Eastern Conference Final. The NHL and NBA regular seasons opened with plenty of intrigue and clear-cut favorites are nowhere to be found - especially in hoops as Cleveland (3-5) and Golden State (6-3) have both wobbled some out of the starting gate.
