CFL Picks Week 16

CFL Football Games This Week

Not what schedule makers hoped for, when it was posted on the Friday Night Fight marquee, the Tiger-Cats at Blue Bombers contest could be over early. Things will get a lot more interesting when Saskatchewan and Toronto do the gridiron tango at 4:00 PM ET to open the Saturday action - prior to the Ottawa at British Columbia clash at 7:00 PM ET. Edmonton is looking to get back track when they meet Montreal at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium for a rare Monday matinee match at 2:00 PM ET on October 9, 2017. King of the Mountain, Calgary can't drop from first during their BYE.

According to our calculations, both Hamilton and Montreal are in a heap of trouble if the perfect storm plays out this weekend. If both squads lose, and the ‘Riders and Redblacks win, Montreal is done and Hamilton would be one loss (or a Ottawa tie) away from missing the CFL playoff party. Colour us surprised that the Tiger-Cats and Alouettes have not been pulled off Grey Cup futures boards yet. Even more shocking, the Steel City Kittens price fell from +2200 to +2000 after their win in BC. Do not invest as much as a plug nickel in Hamilton’s Grey Cup Championship number.

CFL Predictions Today and Week 15 Review

Despising greed in most forms, we won’t dwell on the Kevin Glenn drive and momentum killing interception early in the ‘Riders 18-17 Week 15 road win. After dialling down the home crowd, by forcing a Redblacks game opening two and out, the ‘Riders ran ten plays before imploding with a 7-yard loss and an INT. After reaching the 29-yard line, the pick re-energized the crowd. We cashed with the +135 ML but the ATS loss cost us our first perfect week of the season. Since the SU win was cheesy, plus our Toronto win/cover was a miracle, we will take the money and run to Week 16.

CSB Money Line & ATS Week 15 Results: 4-0-0 and 3-1-0 Overall: 44-15-1 and 33-26-2

Paper markings, plus a gaudy ATS price on CFL betting boards, point to Week 16 opening with a blowout. Led by one of the best all-around players in the CFL, Winnipeg (10-3-0) hosting Hamilton (3-10-0) is a classic Goliath vs David duel. RB Andrew Harris, who is on track to post over 1,000 rushing and receiving yards this season, has meshed brilliantly with QB Matt Nichols as those two dynamos fire the Blue Bombers who lead the CFL with 33.6 points per game. The clawless Tiger Cats are averaging 21.2 PPG. Swallow the big price and soar with the Blue Bombers at home.

Final Score: Hamilton Tiger-Cats 30-13

  • Saskatchewan at Toronto Pick: Argonauts -2.5 (-110) ATS at William Hill

Laden with playoff implications, we see the Saskatchewan (7-6-0) at Toronto (7-7-0) tussle as the cream of the crop this week. The Roughriders are on a 5-2 recent run and they have and have won by a 215-143 margin. Toronto is hot as well as the Argonauts have won three straight, by a 110-80 combined count, since their returning from their Week 12 BYE. The ‘Riders recent losses were to Calgary and Winnipeg while the Boatmen beat a rapidly sinking Eskimos squad plus Montreal and Hamilton. Siding with the home team, who have the better QB, lay the line and take Toronto.

Final Score: Saskatchewan Roughriders 27-24

  • Ottawa at British Coulumbia Pick: BC Lions -4.5 (-110) ATS at Bodog

Another match with a tangible postseason feel to it features a pair of fairly desperate teams in back half of the Saturday double dip. Holding down second place in the East, the Redblacks situation is simplistic, as they need two wins, plus a Hamilton loss, to secure a playoff berth. British Columbia, last in the CFL West Division have several paths to the Grey Cup party but they are all dependent on winning – which they have only done once during their last six games. Ottawa gets starting QB Trevor Harris back for this match but we are backing the Cats -4.5 (-110) spread price at Bodog.

Final Score: Ottawa Redblacks 30-25

  • Edmonton at Montreal Pick: Eskimos -7.5 (-110) ATS at Bet365

Though Edmonton remains in the playoff mix, our preseason Grey Cup choice has stumbled to six straight losses. A trip to the CFL East Division visit to Montreal to battle the Alouettes, who have lost seven in a row, is an elixir the Eskimos desperately need. If they haven’t already, Montreal can start planning for the 2018 season, as they may be postseason eliminated by the time this contest kicks off. Feeling the desperate Esks will feast on the downtrodden Als, during Canadian Thanksgiving Monday action, give up the 7.5 (-110) ATS odds at Bet365 and enjoy a rare Edmonton win.

Final Score: Edmonton Eskimos 42-24 (Happy Thanksgiving)

Odds to win the 2019 CFL Grey Cup
It was the Calgary Stampeders' time to silence the doubters. Despite ghosts of Grey Cup's past, the Stamps delivered on the promise as a favourite to win the 2018 Grey Cup. This was their second chip under the Bo Levi Mitchell era and a dynasty they are becoming. But again, history isn't on Calgary's side for a repeat hence why 2018 Grey Cup Odds are almost even. We take a look.

2018 CFL Division Finals Odds
The road to the 2018 CFL Grey Cup continues on Sunday, November 18th with the eastern and western division finals. After a big win over the Lions, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats travel to meet the division-leading Redblacks in Ottawa. Out west, the CFL-best Calgary Stampeders host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, who overcame a 53-year curse to finally win a playoff game in Regina. Sports betting sites show the Stampeders as favorites, but the Blue Bombers resilience make them an attractive underdog to win the west.
