CFL Picks Week 12

CFL Picks Week 12

CFL Football Games This Week

Not want wanting to compete with the NFL Week 1 New England Patriots vs Kansas City Chiefs season opening clash, we get one Friday night Week 12 fight and a Saturday tripleheader slate. Slumping squads take center stage in Beautiful British Columbia on Friday night as the Leo’s and Al’s have both lost three straight. Saturday action opens with Winnipeg hosting Saskatchewan at 3:00 PM ET and that is followed by Hamilton at Ottawa at 6:30 PM ET. Edmonton hosts Calgary at 9:00 PM ET for the back end of two straight to close out the triple-dip. Toronto is on a Bye week.

Things could change dramatically in the standings this week as a Calgary victory, coupled with a Winnipeg loss, would sling the Stamps into a five point overall CFL standings lead. More important, Calgary would have a three-game lead in the loss column. That means the Red & White would need just five more wins to lock up West Division playoff bye. The East is still a disaster zone - though defending Champ Ottawa is starting to make a move. The Redblacks have reeled off three wins in a row, all fairly impressively, and the Champs own a one point lead over Toronto and Montreal.

CFL Predictions Today and Week 11 Review

Hochie Mama! That famous Kramer cry is how we felt last week as our bankroll, and overall record, took a hit. We thought the train was on another successful run after we opened our Week 11 picks with an easy Ottawa win. We went off the rails after that as Saskatchewan ended Winnipeg's five-game winning streak, Edmonton didn't get in under their gaudy +11 line and Hamilton finally put a W in the win column. We're a little embarrassed by the Eskimos call, we put too much stock in the Blue Bombers winning ways and we feel a little jilted after Toronto blew a 17-7 lead. Our overall numbers are still in the green however as we put Week 11 behind us and move forward.

CSB Money Line & ATS Week 11 Results: 2-2-0 and 1-3-0 Overall: 31-12-1 and 23-20-2

Downtrodden squads get Week 12 rolling as the Alouettes and Lions are a both on a dismal 1-4 run. While big things weren't projected in Montreal this year - expectations were high in Vancouver after the Lions raced out to a 4-1 start. The return of QB Jonathan Jennings from injury (too early) sent the Leo's tumbling and Travis Lulay has returned as the starting pivot in BC. The Montreal defense has regressed to the level of their offense (not good) and that is a concern. Considering the Lions have been in a downward spiral recently, the -8 (-110) ATS odds at SportsInteraction seems a little large but Montreal has been mashed 104-41 during three losses. Lay the line and back BC.

Final Score: British Columbia Lions 41-18

  • Saskatchewan at Winnipeg Pick: Blue Bombers -2 (-110) ATS at William Hill

Though one cooled slightly last Sunday, the Week 12 Saturday triple-dip  opens with teams that are on 5-1 and 3-0 runs. In first of this home and home series, the Bombers were grounded in Regina as Winnipeg’s streak of five straight wins was halted. The 38-24 final is actually flattering as the ‘Riders were up 37-16 heading into the fourth quarter. That’s three impressive wins vs West opponents for the Roughriders, by a 133-63 margin, who are back in the playoff race. This has the makings of being a "whoever scores last - turn out the lights" battle featuring two teams we are not entirely sold on. We are backing the Bombers -2 (-110) price at the William Hill sportsbook.

Final Score: Winnipeg Blue Bombers 48-28

  • Hamilton at Ottawa Pick: Tiger-Cats +12 (-110) ATS at Bodog

Working hard early in the season, Ottawa had little to show for their efforts as the defending Grey Cup Champs opened with 1-6-1 mark. A victory over previously winless Hamilton kick-started the Redblacks (4-6-1) who have won three in a row by a 100-46 count. One win does not make a season but Hamilton (1-8-0) must be somewhat rejuvenated after the Tiger Cats beat arch-rival Toronto last Thursday. That contest wasn’t without it’s struggles as the Argos blew a ten-point lead and missed a 37-yard chip shot field goal during the final minute. The Steel City Crew is not good but we’re having a tough time with Ottawa’s -12 (-110) price at Bodog. The Cats keep it close.

Final Score: Hamilton Tiger-Cats 26-22

  • Edmonton at Calgary Pick: Calgary -6 (-110) ATS at Bet365

Battle of Alberta Act One was a laugher as Calgary crushed Edmonton 39-18 at McMahon Stadium on Labor Day. The Stampeders (8-1-1) are the New England Patriots of the CFL and they appear to be getting better as the weeks roll by. Injuries have caught up to the Eskimos (7-3-0) who have lost three straight by a 126-75 final margin. The Stamps were 11-point chalk at home last week but that they are just -6 (-110) point favs on the road at Commonwealth Stadium. Our calls on Calgary contests have been largely painful since the 2016 Grey Cup but we are siding with the Stamps.

Final Score: Calgary Stampeders 25-22

NFL, CFL and MLB Canada Facing Sportsbooks

Similar to the Allegheny River joining the Monongahela River, to form the Ohio River, the NFL joins the CFL and MLB to form a confluence of sports betting entities. We mentioned above that the Stamps can wrap up a Grey Cup playoff first week BYE in a few weeks – the Boys Of Summer are down to just 29 days on their regular season slate. Looking like they were going to runaway with the hardball world – both Los Angeles (NL) and Houston (AL) appear to be anything but locks on our World Series futures board. They will both make the playoffs but Cleveland may catch the ‘Stros as top AL squad while Washington has a long but doable shot at winning the NL Pennant.

Between Hurricane Irma, injuries and suspensions, NFL Week 1 certainly has some storm clouds. Our hearts are with everyone in Irma’s path. Stay Safe and heed warnings from local officials. Though secondary, Irma has wiped out the Buccaneers vs Dolphins  tilt, several teams will be without stud players all year after preseason injuries and guys like RB Ezekiel Elliott and Willie Snead are dealing with NFL discipline issues. These are tumultuous times in American Football but somehow everyone will forget about the issues once the race to Super LII begins. Wagering on NFL, CFL and MLB action, and so much more, is simple, safe and convenient at these CSB recommended bookmakers.

This was their second chip under the Bo Levi Mitchell era and a dynasty they are becoming. But again, history isn't on Calgary's side for a repeat hence why 2018 Grey Cup Odds are almost even. The road to the 2018 CFL Grey Cup continues on Sunday, November 18th with the eastern and western division finals. After a big win over the Lions, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats travel to meet the division-leading Redblacks in Ottawa. Out west, the CFL-best Calgary Stampeders host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, who overcame a 53-year curse to finally win a playoff game in Regina. Sports betting sites show the Stampeders as favorites, but the Blue Bombers resilience make them an attractive underdog to win the west.
