2016 CFL Grey Cup Outright Odds And Prediction

2016 CFL Grey Cup Outright Odds And Prediction

As the Canadian Football League only has nine teams and plenty of roster turnover every season, pretty much every team has a shot at winning the Grey Cup - at the start of every season. That is why the preview and predictions below are important tools for bettors - to help them determine who to pick and what to look for in a winner.

2016 Grey Cup Outright Betting Odds

Grey Cup Futures

Early and preseason futures give eight teams a reasonable shot at winning the Grey Cup in 2016. Outside of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, the range between the top team and the eighth-ranked team is negligible. The reigning champs - the Calgary Stampeders are the top pick in 2016 - with a Western Division team rounding out the top three picks. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats lead all Eastern teams with a +550.

A surprise amongst the futures may be the Saskatchewan Roughriders - who in 2015 had their worst season in thirty odds years finishing with a 3-15 record. The team spent the offseason rebuilding and retooling the entire team leading to a noticeable jump in their futures odds from the time the Grey Cup concluded to now.

2016 CFL Grey Cup Prediction

HAMILTON TIGER-CATS +550 over the BC Lions

After finishing as the runner-up in 2013 and 2014 - and another successful season in 2015 - it is finally time for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats to end their length Grey Cup drought of 17 years and bring the Cup back to Hammertown. The Ti-Cats had a busy offseason, signing key veteran players - including some former Toronto Argonauts. With the Western Conference looking tougher in 2016 - the Tiger-Cats have a good shot at home-field advantage for the playoffs.

The BC Lions - a very talented team with excellent management and coaching - will have a strong season in 2016 and continue to playoff streak to 20 years. The Lions are as talented - if not slightly more so - than the Ti-Cats, but will have a tougher path to a Grey Cup berth. With the Grey Cup being played in Toronto this year - less than an hour from Hamilton - look for the Ti-Cats to have a larger number of followers in the stadium giving them a home field style boost - which will be a key factor if they wish to win the Cup.

The road to the 2018 CFL Grey Cup continues on Sunday, November 18th with the eastern and western division finals. After a big win over the Lions, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats travel to meet the division-leading Redblacks in Ottawa. Out west, the CFL-best Calgary Stampeders host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, who overcame a 53-year curse to finally win a playoff game in Regina. Sports betting sites show the Stampeders as favorites, but the Blue Bombers resilience make them an attractive underdog to win the west.
