Who will win the 2018 Baseball World Series?
The Red Sox (-155) are favoured to beat the Dodgers (+125) (odds via Bodog) in what could be a high-scoring back-and-forth World Series matchup. Boston has looked unbeatable and holds the edge over Los Angeles in almost all facets. But the Dodgers are just as stacked and hold an advantage in several positions despite the stats.

Who's Got the Advantage?
Boston dominates in terms of raw statistics. But baseball is all about matchups and the Dodgers may just have the right personnel to pull off a classic underdog story.
Stats only tell one-half of the story. Boston has shredded teams including the Astros thanks to the likes of J.D. Martinez (LF) and Jackie Bradley Jr. (CF) They’ll need to maintain their streak against the Dodgers, who have a slight edge on defence.
It starts with the pitching. Clayton Kershaw leads a rotation that is averaging 3.86 ERA in the postseason, which is just slightly better than Boston’s rotation who is averaging 3.92 led by Chris Sale. Unfortunately, he is still dealing with injury and if he isn’t 100%, this could be what sinks the Red Sox.
On the offensive end, the Dodgers are just as talented. Yasiel Puig (RF) is on fire with a .321/.406/.536 slash in 32 plate appearances these playoffs. Combine that with Justin Turner (3B) and Manny Machado (SS), the latter of who is the wild card on defence, and the Dodgers suddenly sound more potent.
The X-Factor goes to the bullpen. Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen has had a dramatic season with his heart issues but he’s been in fine form during the playoffs and the bullpen as a whole have a whopping 1.30 ERA in 41 2/3 innings. The BoSox are shakier on this side as closer Craig Kimbrel hasn’t been the same this postseason.
Prediction: the Red Sox have the more potent offence but the Dodgers have the edge on defence, especially where it matters most: pitching. Boston can get hot but Los Angeles will be steadier and will edge Boston to pull off the upset.
