Ottawa Senators Odds To Win The Stanley Cup 2017

Ottawa Senators Odds To Win The Stanley Cup 2017
Looking to get back to the NHL postseason party, after an eleventh place finish in the Eastern Conference last season, the Ottawa Senators are in a battle with Montreal for first in the Atlantic Division. The Sens, who have a game in hand, are one point behind the Habs. Ottawa has not missed the playoffs in back to back years since 1996. Here we look at the Capital Gang’s NHL title chances.

Senators Outright Winners Odds 2017

After missing the playoffs during their first four years back in the NHL (1993-96) the Senators have been consistent contenders as they advanced to the second season during 15 of the past 20 years. In a group of teams that are running hot in March, Ottawa has posted 6-1-1 record this month. As the wins pile up, the Senators Stanley Cup outright winners odds are going down. Tagged with a +2800 money line five days ago, when we previewed the Toronto Maples Leafs playoff scenario, Ottawa’s line is now +2000 at Bodog. Here are the current (17/03/17) NHL Championship lines.

Ottawa Senators Bodog NHL Stanley Cup Odds

We find it kind of curious that Bodog bookmakers still have the Canadiens significantly ahead of the Senators as Montreal is the top Canada based team with a +1400 ML price. The numbers could flip this weekend as the Atlantic Division leaders are playing a home-and-home series at the Canadian Tire Centre on Saturday and then at the Bell Centre on Sunday. Two wins by the Habs would give them a five-point bulge while a Sens sweep would move Ottawa to the top perch by three points, with a game in hand. The fifth and final season series meeting will play out in Quebec on 25/03/17.

Separated by 222 KM of Trans-Canada Highway, the Ontario vs Quebec Border Battle is going to be wild this weekend. The odds for this rivalry series will be  LIVE via the widget below. Ottawa won the first two games so they have a key tiebreaker over les Habitant. Hard charging, due to a 7-1-0 run, Boston was pounded 7-4 by the Oilers in Edmonton last night leaving the Bruins three points back of the Senators with two additional contests played. Be careful of whiplash this weekend as March Madness, the NBA playoff stretch push, plus MLB X-Games, will also be front and center.

My Team's Next MatchOttawa Senators

StatsGuru Scenario: Flying somewhat under the radar, Ottawa has been a model of consistency as the Senators have not posted a losing record during any of the first six NHL months. The closest they came was a 7-6-0 mark in February. Led by goaltender Craig Anderson, who is 21-8-1 with an NHL sixth best 2.23 GAA, defense first is the Ottawa mantra. Be weary of the Sens offense though as their 2.63 GPG average is 19th overall. We don’t like the Senators Stanley Cup chances – largely due to the fact that we can not see the Sens advancing out of the stacked Eastern Conference.

Ottawa Senators Odds to Make the Playoffs

Shut out of the celebration, for just the second time (1970) in NHL history, five of the seven Great White North squads still have a solid shot at attending the playoff party this year. With 78 points, Toronto is the Canuck Crew in the most precarious position as they are battling for the final Wild Card spot the New York Islanders and Tampa Bay Lightning who both have 77 points. The Ottawa Senators odds to make the playoffs are solid as their magic number to earn a Wild Card berth sits at nine which could be five wins coupled with four loses by the Bolts or the Boys from Brooklyn.

Sparked by races for the Presidents’ Trophy, both conferences, plus all four divisions, final playoff positioning won’t be decided until the season closes on April 9. 2017. Bettors eyeing an emerging favorite should take advantage of the Stanley Cup futures odds that are updated daily at the top ranked sportsbooks listed below.
