NHL Playoff Predictions: Ducks vs Predators Game 1
NHL Western Conference Championship Series Overview
Playing a high level, for the better part of two months now, Pacific Division #1 seed Anaheim and #2 West Wild Card Nashville from the Central Division meet in what will be a fantastic Western Conference Final. These squads have clashed ninety times during regular season action, since the Preds joined the league for the 1998-99 NHL season, and the Ducks hold a slight 43-35-2 edge. The Predators own an 8-5 playoff advantage over the Ducks and they eliminated the SoCal Crew during Round One postseason action last year. Series Winner: Predators (-143) ML at SportsInteraction.

Nashville Predators @ Anaheim Ducks Game 1 Preview and Prediction
Looking to get back to the Stanley Cup Finals, for the third time since their franchise inception back in 1993, Anaheim is participating in their fifth Western Conference Final series. The Ducks mashed Minnesota (4-0) in 2003, lost to Edmonton (4-1) in 2006, defeated Detroit (4-2) in 2007 and then crashed versus Chicago (4-3) during the 2015 West Final. The Ducks meltdown vs the Blackhawks probably still stings as Anaheim was up 3-2 before Chicago roared back with 5-2 and 5-3 victories.
Absent from the playoff party during their first half decade, Nashville is back in the postseason for the tenth time in fourteen years. The second season has not been kind to the Music City Crew as the Preds own a 5-9 playoff series record – with two of the wins being bagged during their current run. Nashville is playing in their franchise first West Final battle and that leaves the Columbus Blue Jackets and Winnipeg Jets as the only active NHL franchises without a Conference Final appearance.
There was plenty of drama when these teams clashed in the NHL quarterfinal playoffs last April. The Ducks dropped the first two games at home (both 3-2) then won three in a row by a 12-3 count, before dropping Game 6 in Nashville (3-1) and Game 7 at the Honda Center (2-1) in SoCal. Our research points to the Predators being an improved team while the Ducks have dipped a bit since these clubs clashed a year ago. The addition of stud D-Man P.K. Subban is big for the Preds.105 Units Nashville (-105) Money Line Wager SportsInteraction
After enjoying an edge in faceoff circle battles, vs the Flames and Oilers, the Ducks will find those fights more competitive in this series. Anaheim led the NHL with a 54.7 win percentage while Nashville wasn’t far back as they won 51.4% of their faceoff duels. Over three regular season contests, Anaheim had a 75-52 advantage during two wins (6-1 and 4-3 SO) at the Duck Pond while Nashville dominated the dot 38-27 in their 5-0 win at Bridgestone Arena. There is not much of a WOWY factor here as both teams head into Round 3 fairly healthy. We like Pekka Rinne over John Gibson in the goaltender duel tonight as we are backing Nashville with a 105 units on the SportsInteraction (-105) money line. Stick with us as we will predict every match of this series.
2017 Odds To Win The Stanley Cup Update
Odds to win the 2017 Stanley Cup have changed dramatically since we first started tracking them back in early March. Back then, in the Eastern Conference, Pittsburgh was the third favorite with a (+800) NHL Championship price while Ottawa were comfortably settled into their underdog role with a gaudy (+3300) money line. Prior to Round 3, the Penguins have moved into top chalk status (+150) while the Senators remain as the biggest pups with a (+500) price. Along with their Stanley Cup futures lines, SportsInteraction is offering a variety of odds on the Pens vs Sens battle including the Steel City squad sporting a (-370) series winning line. Bettors looking to back the Canadian Crew’s Cup Final chances are getting a generous (+225) money line. We will not be going there.
Things are tighter in the Western Conference as both Anaheim and Nashville have seen their longshot odds shrink considerably. Two months ago, the Ducks were sporting (+2000) odds while the Predators were carrying a (+2800) Stanley Cup futures line. Those numbers are long gone though as Anaheim (+240) and Nashville (+333) are second and third favorites respectively. It’s kind of strange that the Ducks have shorter NHL title odds but the Western Conference Championship line has the Predators as chalk at (-143) compared to the SoCal Crews (+105) price. Looking at the “Series Correct Score” odds, we like the Nashville 4-2 (+393) line and we are backing that with a 100 unit wager. Jump on those lines before the puck drops for Game 1 in Disneyland tonight.
