NHL Props Picks – October 26, 2017

NHL Props Picks – October 26, 2017
Strong historical trends outline some of the best NHL prop picks for Thursday, October 26th, along with a super sophomore ready to emerge from an early season slump. Six Canadian NHL teams play during a hectic eleven-game evening that showcases several superb young stars in their prime. Tonight’s top picks include the Leafs and Senators defending their home arenas, and the Jets flying into Pittsburgh for their most difficult matchup of this season.

NHL Player Prop Of The Day – Hurricanes at Maple Leafs

Mitch Marner Primed To Break Out For Leafs

A member of coach Babcock’s doghouse over the past couple of weeks, Mitch Marner was relegated to the fourth line after several unproductive games as the Leafs worst defensive forward. Proceeding a solid game one, Marner’s posted a -8 rating in eight games without scoring a goal.

His ice time was also restricted, averaging a mere 13:14 over the last five games. As coach Babcock’s pet project, Mitch has been sent over the boards situationally to send a message to the sophomore while putting him in a position to succeed.

Marner matches up well against the young Hurricanes, and he recorded a goal the last time he played against Carolina. A pair of smooth assists during the Leafs last game against the Kings suggests that Mitch’s on the upswing. NHL props show a +275 line for Marner scoring against the Canes, which provides great value compared to betting on Auston Matthews scoring a goal at -180.

NHL Puckline Of The Day – Jets at Penguins

Winnipeg Jets Have Beaten Pittsburgh Once In Last Ten Meetings

Pittsburgh dominates most of the NHL, but one of their most lopsided matchups over the last few years has been against the Winnipeg Jets. The Jets have won only once in their last ten meetings against the Penguins, including six losses by two or more goals.

The Penguins blitzed the Oilers on Tuesday, racking up 44 shots against goalie Cam Talbot, who stood on his head and allowed only two goals. Winnipeg’s been playing well too – after a terrible couple of losses against the Leafs and the Flames, the Jets have turned things around, winning four of their last five.

Unfortunately for Winnipeg, goaltending remains an issue, and Jets netminders won’t offer the same protection that Talbot provides for their Oilers. Expect the Jets to lose by two or more goals, extending their futility against the Penguins.

NHL Over/Under Of The Day – Flyers at Senators

Ottawa And Philly Have A History Of Tight Matchups

When the Flyers and Senators meet, games tend to be close. Six of their last ten meetings ended in overtime, including five shootouts. Conservative scoring tends to inform the end result, with eight of the last ten games between these teams ending with five goals or less combined.

Remarkably, the previous four meetings have created 3-2 games, with the Senators losing three of those matches. After beginning the season on a tear, Philly’s scoring has been down over their last three games, potting only five goals.

Ottawa scores in bunches this season, but the strong, defensive history between these teams suggests another modest outcome. The over/under for this game is 5.5 with a line of -110 for either result. Place your wager on the under with the expectation of a 3-2 or 3-1 final score.
