NHL Props Picks of the Day

NHL Props Picks of the Day
A busy Tuesday night of NHL hockey on October 24th features eleven matchups, including five Canadian teams. The best NHL props of the evening involve tough matchups for the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers and the basement-dwelling Montreal Canadiens. Filip Forsberg looks to continue his hot hand against the Flames, and Edmonton hasn’t won in regulation against Pittsburgh for more than a decade. The Canadiens can’t seem to score, and find themselves in an historic slump.

NHL Player Prop Of The Day - Flames vs Predators

Nashville’s Filip Forsberg On Fire Against Flames

After a relaxed start in 2016, Filip Forsberg caught fire in February 2017, finishing with 15 goals and seven assists in the final 24 games of last season. He hasn’t shown signs of a Stanley Cup hangover during the first eight games this year, scoring 6 goals and chipping in 5 helpers. That adds up to 21 goals and 12 assists in his last 32 regular season games.

Forsberg’s quietly become one of the premier scorers in the NHL, and the Calgary Flames are one of his favorite targets. Last year, Filip scored four goals in three games against the Flames, including a hat-trick.

The Flames will give the Preds all they can handle, as Calgary’s 6-4 against Nashville over their last ten meetings. These teams averaged 7.3 goals per game against each other last year, so you can expect plenty of scoring this evening. Forsberg’s goal prop is listed at +170 while his point prop features a -180 line. There’s a good chance he scores, but If you prefer less risk with a smaller payout, bet on Filip getting a point against the Flames.

NHL Puckline Of The Day - Oilers vs Penguins

Pittsburgh Penguins Puckline Provides Peak Value

The Pittsburgh Penguins have endured extremes more than any other team this year, including a 10-1 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks and a 7-1 defeat against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Pittsburgh’s still close to the top of the Metropolitan with a 5-3-1 record, one point behind the surprising Devils.

All three regulation losses took place on the second half of back-to-back games, which tends to produce a significant disadvantage because hockey players usually need at least one day of rest to fully recharge. The Penguins have played more than 200 games in two years, which makes that day of rest even more important.

The Edmonton Oilers have been struggling without Leon Draisaitl, who’s been out with concussion issues. He’s questionable to play tonight, and Edmonton hasn’t beaten Pittsburgh in regulation since January 10th, 2006 - a span of 13 games. Pittsburgh’s puckline features a generous line of +175, fantastic value for the best team in the NHL.

NHL Over/Under Of The Day - Panthers vs Canadiens

Montreal Canadiens Weak Attack Against Florida Panthers

Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin made some questionable moves over the past two years, sowing the seeds for some of the worst hockey in franchise history. After winning against the lowly Sabres, Montreal lost seven in a row, sinking to last place in the eastern conference. The last time the Canadiens endured seven straight losses was 1940.

Ridding the team of P.K. Subban, Alex Radulov and Andrei Markov appear to have sapped the offense. Jonathan Drouin has been outscored by rookie defenseman Mikhail Sergachev, a highly-touted prospect they gave up for Drouin.

The Panthers aren’t a high scoring team either, which makes an over/under of 5.5 seem a bit high. Under is the more likely result for this matchup, with a solid -110 line given to both results.
