NHL Playoff Predictions: Ducks vs Predators Game 6

NHL Playoff Predictions: Ducks vs Predators Game 6
Looking to punch their ticket to the Stanley Cup Championship round, Nashville hosts Anaheim for Game 6 of the NHL Western Conference Finals in Music City tonight. The Predators faced key injuries but gutted out a 3-1 win during Game 5. This battle begins at 8:00 PM ET on May 22, 2017, at the Bridgestone Arena.

NHL Western Conference Finals Game 5 Review

Despite being without their top two centerman, Ryan Johansen & Mike Fisher, Nashville rolled into Anaheim and posted a pivotal Game 5 victory. Goaltending was the story of this slugfest as Pekka Rinne was brilliant from start to finish while the Ducks lost starter John Gibson to injury after the first period. There were three power plays, and shots were tied at ten apiece during the opening frame, but the match was scoreless after another rough and tumble opening twenty minutes.

My Team's Next MatchAnaheim Ducks

Ducks winger Chris Wagner and Predators center Colin Wilson scored second period goals and the game was tied at 1-1 after forty minutes. Following a flurry of shots by both squads, Pontus Aberg potted the tie-breaking goal 11:01 into the third period. Doomsday in Disneyland was finished off when Austin Watson fired a puck from a 160 away and hit the center of the Anaheim empty net. We are disappointed for letting the Preds WOWY deficit over-influence our wager on this match.

Nashville Predators vs Anaheim Ducks Game 6 Preview and Prediction

After the noise level reached 126 decibels (near jet engine) at the Bridgestone Arena during Game 1, Smashville may be even louder tonight as the Predators look to advance to their franchise first Stanley Cup Final. Pekka Rinne was more than deserving of his first star status as the Fabulous Fin made key saves (32 of 33) throughout Game 5. Nashville took a penalty 1:14 after the Ducks went up 1-0 but Rinne stood tall while stopping four shots to keep the match deficit at just one goal.

Not exactly bandwagon jumping, our Predators in six games call is alive and well, we felt the SoCal Crew gained an edge when Johansen went down for the remainder of this series. In fact, part of our reasoning for backing the Ducks on Saturday was our “Series Correct Score” ticket turning to trash if Anaheim won Game 5. As can often happen with injuries though, the Predators banded together and pushed the Ducks to the brink of elimination despite missing their leading scorer.

230 Units Anaheim +1.5 (-230) Puck Line Bet SportsInteraction

Disappointed we let our handle on this series slip away, Anaheim’s Game 4 OT win and the Preds injuries rattled us, we are still sporting a meager (+5) unit profit on the West Final. Our future bets will return a 493 profit if the Predators advance to the Cup Final by shooting down the Ducks in Tennessee tonight. A 230-unit wager on Anaheim’s +1.5 (-230) SportsInteraction puck line price protects our series winning tickets and earns us a double dip if Nashville wins by one goal. If the Predators win by two or more, our series profit will drop to 268 units. After a roller-coaster style NHL playoff betting run – we’ll take it and begin planning our NHL Championship wagering path.

2017 Odds To Win The Stanley Cup Update

As a final thought on our prediction above; If not for our pre-series predictions of Predators in Six (+393) and to win (-143) the West Final, that we have 243 units invested in, we would be backing Nashville on the (-130) SportsInteraction money line tonight. Checking the most up to date NHL Stanley Cup Futures odds, Pittsburgh is the first team with a negative money line as the Penguins are clear favorites with a (-110) NHL title price. After being pounded by the Pens, 7-0 during Game 5 at The New Igloo, Ottawa’s Cup line doubled from (+500) to (+1000) on the CSB futures board.

Prior to the Steel City Crew’s smashing of the Sens, Nashville was second chalk and they remained steady with a (+175) NHL Championship money line. The Preds would probably be at or closer to top chalk if not for Pittsburgh getting some players back from injury soon while Nashville will be without their top scorer moving forward. The Ducks were tied as overall Cup pups with Ottawa, prior to Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Final, but their line only grew from (+500) to (+650) following the Senators “Sunday Bloody Sunday” near season ending stumble in the Steel City.

Top Ranked NHL Stanley Cup Finals Sportsbooks Available in Canada

Feeling we won’t get a Game 7 in either 2017 NHL Conference Final battle, Canuck ‘Cappers will have about 140 hours to ponder the final fight for Lord Stanley’s Mug. Round Four is officially slated to start on Monday May 29 in Pittsburgh (probably), Ottawa or Anaheim. Losing Ryan Johansen is rather nasty blow but Nashville reminds us of the 2012 Los Angels Kings who are the only team to claim the Cup as an eighth seed since the current NHL playoff format was adopted in 1994. The recommended bookmakers in our Top Five table below will be stacked with NHL Championship odds once the finalists are determined. We’ll be back with our picks before the festivities begin.
