NHL Picks & Pucklines Tonight

Will Flames Win Six In A Row?

Calgary’s jumped to third in the Pacific Division with a couple of big wins on the road, beating the Wild in overtime, following up with a dominant 5-1 crushing of the Lightning. The Flames were considered underdogs for both of those matchups, but they’ve proven themselves as the best road warriors in the western conference, boasting a 11-5-4 mark during their travels.

They’ll be listed as an underdog for the third straight evening, visiting the Florida Panthers less than 24 hours after beating Tampa Bay. Despite the lack of rest, the Flames should be considered an excellent choice because of their five-win streak, a clear indication of fire on ice.

NHL Lines: Lighting The Lamp

Canucks at Blue Jackets – Bet Columbus SU (-190)

Vancouver’s lost five in a row and nine of their last ten, plummeting towards the bottom of the Pacific Division. The Blue Jackets lost against the Sabres last night, and they’d normally be the disadvantaged team, but the Canucks don’t look ready to leverage a rest advantage. Instead, Vancouver seems to have fallen apart due to injuries to top contributors, which upset the winning chemistry the Canucks established earlier in the season. Columbus will be motivated to avoid to consecutive losses to non-playoff teams, giving the Jackets extra momentum tonight.

Flames at Panthers – Bet Calgary SU (+110)

Calgary’s been money over their last couple of games, offering terrific payouts for road wins against the Wild and the Lightning. Both were plus moneylines, similar to this evening’s matchup against the Panthers. The Calgary Flames have beaten Florida in three straight, and six of the last eight times these teams met. Recent clashes weren’t even close, with Calgary beating the puckline three times, winning by a cumulative score of 15-4. Florida’s playing well, winning six of their last ten, but the Flames have been incandescent. Ride the plus moneyline.

Capitals at Hurricanes – Bet Washington SU (+110)

Carolina broke a four-game losing streak against their Metro Division rivals, earning a solid 3-1 victory in Washington last night. On Friday night, the teams travel to Raleigh for the completion of this home-and-home series. Philipp Grubauer will protect the net for the Capitals, and he’s served Washington well as a backup over the past month. Washington’s the second-best team in the eastern conference, rarely listed as an underdog. There’s aren’t too many opportunities where you’ll earn a +110 payout for wagering on teams as strong as the Capitals.

Jets at Blackhawks – Bet Winnipeg SU (-115)

The Winnipeg Jets separate themselves as the best team in Canada during their recent stretch without top center Mark Scheifele. However, they’ve lost six of their last ten against Chicago, including two consecutive puckline losses. Winnipeg’s considered the favorite because of inspired play and the injury to Corey Crawford, which forces the Blackhawks to rely on unproven backups. Chicago’s also in a downward trend, losing six of their last ten, including a 2-1 defeat against Minnesota a couple of days ago. Select Winnipeg simply because they’re the better hockey team.

Oilers at Coyotes – Bet Arizona SU (-110)

Edmonton’s goal production disappeared on New Year’s Eve and hasn’t been found in 2018. The Oilers have scored five goals in their last six games, entering a tough 24 hours where they’ll face the Coyotes and the Golden Knights on the road. Arizona’s lost four in a row against the Oilers, but won six in a row prior to the losing streak. Neither team will win this game, but one team will not lose. Arizona’s spent the last week practicing and resting, giving them a strong home advantage.

Dirty Dangle Of The Night:

Columbus Blue Jackets Beat Puckline Against Vancouver Canucks (-1.5, +155)

You can bet that coach John Tortorella’s voice echoed through the locker room after the Jackets lost to the worst team in the eastern conference. Mediocre on the road, Columbus sports a strong record at home, winning 15 of 22 games. The Canucks have a terrible hangover from New Year’s Eve, giving up the puckline in three of their last four losses. Expect Columbus to storm out of the gates in response to their disappointing effort against Buffalo.
