NFL Monday Night Predictions

NFL Monday Night Predictions
Week eight in the NFL schedule finishes off with a nightmare matchup for the Denver Broncos (3-3), who trot into Arrowhead Stadium to meet the Kansas City Chiefs (5-2) for an 8:30 PM EST kickoff on October 30th. This has the potential to be a blowout by the end of the first half if the Broncos don’t reverse their recent slide. Kansas wants to maintain pace with the Patriots and the Steelers atop the AFC standings by routing Denver at home.

Broncos at Chiefs NFL Picks

Kansas City endured a two-week slide, with a close home loss against the Steelers and a one-point defeat in Raiders territory. The Chiefs blazed through the beginning of the schedule with five consecutive wins, including games against the Patriots, Eagles and Washington.

Denver looked promising after a 3-1 record to start, but a pair of curious defeats against the New York Giants and Los Angeles Chargers makes the Broncos look lost. Tonight’s game will be against their strongest competition of the year, which doesn’t bode well for Mile High fanatics.

My Team's Next MatchKansas City Chiefs

Coach Andy Reid won’t let his Chiefs lose three games in a row, especially against a team like the Broncos, who appear to be in a death spiral. Kansas City should beat the spread handily, putting this game out of reach sooner rather than later.

Monday night football has generally created low scoring games, and Denver’s attack looks like it’s fallen apart. The Chiefs should be able to earn 24-28 points this evening, but it’s doubtful that the Broncos will be able to put up the rest to push the total over. As such, the under bet appears less risky on Monday night.

Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs Preview

Bye weeks usually give NFL teams much needed rest, boosting energy reserves while giving coaches the opportunity to spend time adjusting team strategy and improving performance during practice. Hard to say what happened during the Broncos bye week, because they look like one of the worst teams in the NFL after returning from vacation. Denver was shut out by the Los Angeles Chargers, and they returned to action by giving the New York Giants their first win of the season – at Mile High Stadium, of all places.

This AFC West divisional matchup couldn’t have arrived at a worse time for Denver. They’re taking on the division leaders, who might be the best team in the conference. Even worse, the Chiefs have lost two in a row after winning five straight, creating a strong hunger for victory. Kansas needs a win to rise to 6-2, which will place them in a three-way tie for top spot in the AFC. The Broncos need to win to improve worsening odds of making the playoffs.

After a 42-point outburst against the Dallas Cowboys, the Broncos have averaged a mere 10.5 PPG over their last four games, easily the worst in the league. This stretch revealed severe problems with QB Trevor Siemian, who has a 72.5 passer rating, two TDs and five INTs over the last four. Defenses have adjusted to the lack of an air threat, making life difficult for RB C.J. Anderson. During the Broncos swoon, he’s gained less than 45 yards in three of four games.

The lack of offense spills over into the Broncos defense, who must be exhausted with all the time they’ve spent on field. Denver’s slipped to 11th best in terms of points allowed, compared to fourth-best last season. Kansas City’s offense is one of the fastest in the NFL, increasing the difficulty for the Bronco’s defense. Denver will need to be near-perfect to win tonight, an unlikely scenario given the past two weeks.

NFL Monday Night Football

Favorites have covered the spread on Monday night in six of eight matchups, including last week’s explosive contest between Washington and the NFL’s best team, the Philadelphia Eagles. Tonight’s matchup has a strong probability of ending in a blowout.

Monday nights have produced totals which trend mostly towards the under. Last week was an exception to the trend, with the Eagles and Redskins combining for 58 points. Denver’s offense has fallen off a cliff, giving NFL wagering fans no reason to expect a second straight over result.
