NFL 2018/19 Week 5

NFL 2018/19 Week 5

Five weeks into the National Football League regular season is when you have enough information from the current season to know the strengths and weaknesses of every team. While the NFL will always surprise, there are some great NFL betting lines this week to take advantage of based off team performances. Previewing the best point spread, NFL moneyline and game totals to bet on Week 5 of the 2018 NFL season.

Best Bet on Week 5 of the 2018 NFL Season

Best Over Bet: Atlanta Falcons vs. Pittsburgh Steeler 57.5 (-115)

Typically you would not see someone advocating for an over wager on a line of 57.5, but after watching these two teams over the first four weeks of the NFL season, there is little reason to believe either team’s defence will do much on Sunday.

The Atlanta Falcons are giving up the third most points per game in the NFL this season at 30.5, while the Pittsburgh Steelers is not too far behind at 29.0.

Atlanta allows teams to score on 47.7% of drives this season (second-most in the NFL), while Pittsburgh has allowed the second most passing touchdowns (12).

Both offences are good this season. Falcons’ receiver Julio Jones leads the NFL in receiving yards, while Roethlisberger sits atop the passing yardage leaderboard. Overall, this game should be one of, if not, the highest scoring games of Week 5.

Pick: Over 57.5 Points (-115)

Best Under Bet: Denver Broncos vs. New York Jets 42.5 (-110)

While both teams offences looked good in Week 1, their last three games have not been very impressive. Both the Denver Broncos and New York Jets have more interceptions than passing touchdowns and rank in the bottom five for passing yards per attempt.

Broncos vs Jets
Over 42.5 Points Odds
-110

Although the Broncos have made up for some of their offences inefficiencies through a better-than-expected rushing attack, the Jets allow the seventh-fewest yards per carry in the NFL this season. Overall, it is hard to trust both offences showing up on Sunday, and a low-scoring game is what NFL bettors should expect.

Pick: Over 42.5 Points (-110)

Best Moneyline Bet: Green Bay Packers (-120) over the Detroit Lions

Even with some controversy coming out of the Green Bay Packers camp this week, Aaron Rodgers has made a career out of carving up the Detroit Lions.

Rodgers is 13-3 against Detroit in his career, owning a 34-6 TD to INT ratio.

Lions’ defence has not stopped many this season, especially on the ground. With Packers running back Aaron Jones looking quite strong over the last two weeks, the Packers should find success running the ball early. That will open up play action for Rodgers and help his receivers make big plays down the field.

Pick: Green Bay to Win Outright (-120)

Best Point Spread Wager: Baltimore Ravens (-3.0) against the Cleveland Browns (-120)

Baker Mayfield will face his first real test as an NFL quarterback when the Cleveland Browns host the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday afternoon.

The Ravens defence allows the fewest yards per play in the NFL this season and has allowed only one team to score more than 14 points this season.

The Browns are only 3-7 ATS against Baltimore in their last ten games and 0-5 since November 2015. While the Browns should continue to improve over the season, we know the Ravens have improved since last year and should win and cover against the Browns.

Pick: Baltimore -3.0 over the Cleveland Browns (-120)
