Game five made Raptors fans wonder why coach Casey hasn’t played Norman Powell more often, especially considering Powell’s performance during the most successful playoff run in franchise history. Norm leads all Raptors in scoring, putting 25 points on the board via 8-11 shooting, including a perfect four for four from three. He also notched four rebounds and assists, as well as three steals and a block.
DeMar DeRozan notched 18 points and six assists, Lowry scored 16 and dished 10 dimes, and three other Raptors scored in double digits. Toronto shot 57.7% for the evening and distributed 28 assists, proving the squad’s focus on teamplay. The defense held steady, limiting the Bucks to 93 points, even though the team shot 50.7% from the field.
These improvements can be linked directly to changes in the Raptors rotation, specifically, swapping Jonas Valanciunas with Norman Powell in the starting five. This adjustment helped win a brutal game four, allowing the Raps to go small to adjust to the speed of the starting Bucks. Valanciunas has performed much better off the bench, letting coach Casey match the big Lithuanian against Greg Monroe.
With the exception of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Malcolm Brogdon, the rest of the Bucks lineup disappeared in game five. Toronto shouldn’t expect this scenario to repeat this evening. Instead, the Bucks will likely charge out of the gate in full force. Bettors should also be aware of the fact the Lowry-DeRozan duo has lost all three game sixes they’ve appeared in together.
Nonetheless, Toronto is still the best bet because of the adjustments they’ve made over the past couple of games, their previous experience, and the depth of the rotation – including a vastly superior bench. The spread for this game sits at +1 for the Raptors, so attach your ATS wager to the team you believe will win. This has been a low scoring series, so wagering under on a total of 195 represents less risk.Toronto Raptors (-105) Bodog

San Antonio Spurs over Memphis Grizzlies (-220)
Despite possessing the second-best road record in the NBA, the San Antonio Spurs were unable to beat the underpowered Memphis Grizzlies during two games at the Grindhouse. Heroic performances by Marc Gasol, Mike Conley, Zach Randolph and a forty-year old Vince Carter evened the series, but they weren’t enough to avoid a blowout in game five at San Antonio.
The surprise of this series has been San Antonio’s lack of defense, which had lead to the Grizzlies shooting above 50% two out of the past three games. In particular, Mike Conley has made Tony Parker and other Spurs guards look inadequate, which doesn’t bode well for a potential matchup against the Golden State Warriors.
Memphis won’t make it easy on the Spurs, but they’re extremely unlikely to take a third game against San Antonio. Coach Popovich wants to avoid a game seven scenario, and give his players a rest for an eventual meeting against the Warriors. Expect Kawhi Leonard to have a huge game, and the Spurs to tighten their focus on the defensive end. The Spurs should be able to beat a spread of five.
