NBA Picks: Conference Quarterfinals Odds For April 19, 2017
Washington Wizards vs. Atlanta Hawks NBA Playoff Odds
Washington Wizards Season Record: 49-33
Atlanta Hawks Season Record: 43-39
Canada Sports Betting Pick: Washington Wizards (-225) at Bodog
John Wall had his way with the Atlanta Hawks, pouring 32 points through the hoop while distributing 14 assists. He also shot 50% from the field, including 2-4 from three and 6-6 from the free throw line. The Hawks simply couldn’t keep up, despite solid performances from Dennis Schroder, Paul Millsap and Taurean Prince.
By far the best player in this series, Wall dictates play whenever he’s on the court, overwhelming other guards with his size, speed, skill and grit. The Hawks simply don’t have an answer, and the fact that Bradley Beal had a horrible shooting night should worry Atlanta. If Beal regains his three-point stroke, and Wall remains steady, the rest of this series could be a blowout. Expect the Wizards to defend home court tonight.
Houston Rockets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder NBA Playoff Odds
Houston Rockets Season Record: 55-27
Oklahoma City Thunder Season Record: 47-35
Canada Sports Betting Pick: Houston Rockets (-360) at Bodog
The first game between the Thunder and the Rockets was a blowout, with Houston cementing the win over Oklahoma City during the third quarter. Harden picked apart the Thunder defense, scoring 37 points on 13-28 shooting, while Westbrook sputtered to a 6-23 evening and a paltry 22 points. Even worse, the Thunder shot 37% as a team, and sixth man Enes Kanter was exposed for his complete lack of defensive chops.
Despite getting completely destroyed by a massive Steven Adams screen, Patrick Beverley outperformed Westbrook, scoring 21 points while hitting 4-6 threes. Oklahoma should show out with a better performance tonight, but the Rockets seem to be ready to outscore whatever the Thunder put on the table. Houston won’t win by 31 again, but they’ll defend their home court with a solid victory nonetheless.
GS Warriors vs. Portland Trail Blazers NBA Playoff Odds
Home Team Season Record: 67-15
Portland Trail Blazers Season Record: 41-41
Canada Sports Betting Pick: Golden State Warriors (-1600) at Bodog
Kevin Durant will likely be taking a rest for the second game of this opening round series, but it shouldn’t make a big difference to the bottom line. The Warriors comfortably took the first game by twelve points, and they’ll be able to overcome KD’s absence to take their first two home playoff matchups.
It must be incredible frustrating for the Blazers: CJ McCollum scored 41 points on 16-28 shooting and Damian Lillard netted 34 on a 12-26 line, but a combined 75 points from the Splash Cousins were easily parried aside by the Splash Brothers and the rest of the Warriors. Without Jusuf Nurkic, Portland’s fate becomes even more difficult, lacking a strong inside presence against the skilled Warriors bigs.
