NBA Picks: Conference Quarterfinals Odds For April 18, 2017
Toronto Raptors vs. Milwaukee Bucks NBA Playoff Odds
Toronto Raptors Regular Season Record: 51-31
Milwaukee Bucks Regular Season Record: 42-40
Canada Sports Betting Pick: Toronto Raptors (-340) at Bodog
The NBA is one of the least forgiving leagues in the world, and the Raptors find themselves once again perilously close to another playoff failure. Giannis Antetokounmpo completely overwhelmed the Raptors, and the rest of the Bucks lineup played some serious defense to hold the Raps to 32 points in the second half, including an abysmal 13-point fourth quarter.
Last year – the best in Toronto franchise history – saw the Raptors lose the first game of the first two series they won, before dragging Cleveland to six games in the eastern conference finals. The Raptors are the better team even if Giannis is the best player on the court. Expect Toronto to make the necessary adjustments to even this series at one game apiece and avoid another disastrous night on the offensive end.
Boston Celtics vs. Chicago Bulls NBA Playoff Odds
Boston Celtics Season Record: 53-29
Chicago Bulls Season Record: 41-41
Canada Sports Betting Pick: Boston Celtics (-330) at Bodog
Underestimating the mercurial Chicago Bulls is never a good idea, proven by their mild upset win over the Celtics in game one of the series. The match was overshadowed by tragedy, even if Isaiah Thomas didn’t show any signs during another incredible performance. All respect goes to the Thomas family and Celtics teammates for rallying around their MVP during difficult times.
It was Jimmy Butler and surprise contributions from Bobby Portis that won the first game, instead of a bad performance by the Celtics. Portis probably won’t hit 8 of 10 shots again, and the rest of the Bulls aren’t as consistent as Butler. At the same time, coach Brad Stevens will make the needed adjustments to lock up a victory in the second game of the series. Bet on Boston winning at home.
Los Angeles Clippers vs. Utah Jazz NBA Playoff Odds
Los Angeles Clippers Regular Season Record: 51-31
Utah Jazz Regular Season Record: 51-31
Canada Sports Betting Pick: Los Angeles Clippers (-490) at Bodog
Somehow, the Los Angeles Clippers managed to get beat by a last-minute Joe Johnson isolation play – the same type that Iso Joe has been hanging on opponents for a decade. The Utah Jazz have to be pleased with trouncing the Clippers without Rudy Gobert, who received a knock on the knee during the first play of the first game.
Chris Paul was the only Clipper who appeared embarrassed, screaming and yelling at his teammates as they lackadaisically floated around the hardcourt. CP4 and Doc Rivers won’t accept another terrible loss at home, and the Jazz were lucky to compete without Gobert. Game two will likely consist of a blowout, with the Jazz praying that the Stifle Tower heals quick enough to return before it’s too late.
