NBA Picks: Conference Quarterfinals Odds For April 15, 2017

NBA Picks: Conference Quarterfinals Odds For April 15, 2017
The most wonderful time of the year has arrived, as the 2017 NBA playoffs tip-off with a 3 PM EST meeting between the Cavaliers and the Pacers. Unlike the past six years, LeBron's squad appears vulnerable to an eastern conference upset, even if it's never wise to bet against King James.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Indiana Pacers NBA Playoff Odds

My Team's Next MatchCleveland Cavaliers

Cleveland Cavaliers Regular Season Record: 51-31
Indiana Pacers Regular Season Record: 42-40
Canada Sports Betting Pick: Cleveland Cavaliers (-500) at Bodog

Woe to the Indiana Pacers. Larry Bird’s squad will experience the same type of destruction that the Boston Celtics endured a couple of weeks ago, when LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers decided to play defense. Despite losing their last four games of the regular season, including two in a row against the Atlanta Hawks, the Cavs are still the heavy eastern conference favorites.

Paul George will get his shots, but there’s no other top-flight talent available to supplement PG-13’s brilliance. Cleveland’s a top-heavy rotation, allowing teams with a deep bench to attack the Cavaliers only flaw. The Pacers have one of the worst benches in the league, giving the Cavs the advantage in every way possible.

Toronto Raptors vs. Milwaukee Bucks NBA Playoff Odds

My Team's Next MatchToronto Raptors

Toronto Raptors Regular Season Record: 51-31
Milwaukee Bucks Regular Season Record: 42-40
Canada Sports Betting Pick: Toronto Raptors (-320) at Bodog

Giannis Antetokounmpo was the first NBA player to finish top twenty in all five major categories, including points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks. He’s well on his way to becoming one of the top five players in the league, and with a little bit more depth, the Milwaukee Bucks would be the favorites in this matchup. That’s how good the Greek Freak has become.

Fortunately for the Raptors, depth is one of their significant strengths, especially after Masai Ujiri went out and scored Serge Ibaka and P.J. Tucker. Both the starters and the bench crew are among the best in the NBA, turning the Raptors into a dark horse candidate to emerge from the east. The Raptors own one of the most dynamic offenses in the association, and their recent surge in quality on the defensive end of the court bodes well.

San Antonio Spurs vs. Memphis Grizzlies NBA Playoff Odds

My Team's Next MatchMemphis Grizzlies

San Antonio Spurs Regular Season Record: 61-21
Memphis Grizzlies Regular Season Record: 43-39
Canada Sports Betting Pick: San Antonio Spurs (-550) at Bodog

The San Antonio Spurs continue to do their thing, earning another 60+ win season without much fanfare. If it wasn’t for the triple-double madness that enveloped the NBA this year, Kawhi Leonard would be a favorite for MVP. Without any detriment to his suffocating, all-NBA defense, Leonard made another huge leap on the offensive end this year, scoring 25.5 per game on .485/.381/.880 shooting splits.

There’s little chance that the Memphis Grizzlies will be able to stop Kawhi and co., especially without ace defender Tony Allen. No doubt the Grizz will grind their way through the series no matter what, but the Spurs are far too great to fold to a mediocre Memphis squad.

Los Angeles Clippers vs. Utah Jazz NBA Playoff Odds

My Team's Next MatchUtah Jazz

Los Angeles Clippers Regular Season Record: 51-31
Utah Jazz Regular Season Record: 51-31
Canada Sports Betting Pick: Los Angeles Clippers (-230) at Bodog

Perhaps the second-best matchup in the first round, the Utah Jazz and the Los Angeles Clippers feature two of the most intimidating NBA paint defenders in DeAndre Jordan and Rudy Gobert. This year, the French Rejection has exerted his will on the floor, and will likely earn a nod for defensive player of the year. DeAndre Jordan’s no slouch, but Gobert’s ability to switch onto smaller ballhandlers and alter shots is unmatched.

Chris Paul and Blake Griffin have played well as part of the Clippers big three, while Gordon Hayward and George Hill have enjoyed their best season as Utah’s top trio alongside Gobert. Most prognosticators believe the Clippers will win, and they’re certainly the favorite to take the first game in the series.

However, the Jazz play the type of defensive basketball that wins series, and the Clips are under far more pressure. Utah has a great chance to upset Doc River’s crew, who will probably disband unless they win at least two playoff series in 2017.
