MLB Picks Of The Day: NL Conference Series
Los Angeles Dodgers @ Chicago Cubs 2016 NLCS
- Game 1 (Oct. 15 – 8PM): Cubs Win
Tonight on the mound for the Cubs is veteran Jon Lester (19-5) VS Kenta Maeda (16-11). Jon Lester has started 15 post season games in his career, compared to Maeda’s 1. Maeda has pitched very well for a 28 year old rookie, but Lester’s experience should go a long way in tonight’s game. We predict that the Cubs’ batters will be trying to figure out Maeda early, as they have never faced him. By the 3 or 4th AB for each player, they should have him figured out and be able to get quality hits off him.
- Game 2 (Oct. 16 – 8PM): Dodgers Win
The Dodgers have not officially announced game 2’s starter, but it is quite possible that it will be their Ace, Clayton Kershaw (12-4). Kershaw last pitched on Oct. 13, saving the game, and only pitched 0.2 of an inning. He hasn’t been that sharp this post season, but neither has his counterpart Kyle Hendricks (16-8) who only lasted 3.2 innings in his only post season start. There is no reason to bet against Clayton Kershaw.
- Game 3 (Oct. 18 – 8 PM): Cubs Win
Game 3 has Jake Arriera (18-8) likely going up against Rich Hill (12-5). The veteran Hill has pitched exceptional this season, with a stingy 2.12 ERA, but has not had much post season success, with an ERA over 6 this post season. The Cubs strong offence should be able to handle Hill on the mound. Jake Arrieta has been fairly effective so far this post season, posting a quality start in his only start.
- Game 4 (Oct. 19 – 8PM): Cubs Win
The Cubs are sending out John Lackey (11-8) in game 4, and it is quite possible the Dodgers are sending out Julio Urias (5-2). Lackey has been extremely effective against the Dodgers in his career, posting a stellar 1.75 ERA in 12 games against them. Urias has not started thus far in the post season, but it is quite possible the Dodgers will be forced to use him. Bet on Lackey to continue his dominance over the Dodgers in his start, and the bats of the cubs do what they do best.
- Game 5 (Oct. 20 – 8 PM) Cubs Win
Neither starting pitcher has been announced yet, but it is likely that we will see the Dodgers being forced to use Clayton Kershaw as their starter here on 4 days rest, and the Cubs using Jon Lester. The Dodgers pitching staff will be too stretched out and overused in order to be effective at this point in the series and we predict the heavy hitting bats of Rizzo, Bryant and the gang to finally be effective against Kershaw. Jon Lester will be well rested and ready go. Look for the Cubs to take this one by a close margin.
2016 MLB NL Conference Series Betting Tips
These teams stack up well against each other. Both have a group of very quality starting pitchers, as well as a strong batting lineup, but the Chicago Cubs are stronger in each category. Their pitching is just a little bit better than the Dodgers, but their batting lineup is one of the best we have seen in several years. Look for each game to have a close score overall, but the Cubs pitching to quiet down the Dodgers’ bats. This may just be the Cubs year to break their streak of no World Series Championships since 1908.
