MLB Picks and Parlays June 17

MLB Baseball Games Today

We’re back with some more MLB picks, and after going positive the first couple of months of the season, we’ll keep on trucking this June. This weekend is offering some very enticing value and some very enticing lines. Saturday provides us with a good opportunity to pick off some middle games of teams’ respective series. The Toronto Blue Jays are heavy favorites in their matchup against the White Sox, but is there value in picking them at this price?

Most sportsbooks are doing well at this point in the season because of three factors. The Houston Astros have exceeded expectations to start the season, but since all the bandwagon bettors jumped on, the team hasn’t played as well. The Cubs and Cleveland Indians have been utter disappointments despite being public plays all season long. The Minnesota Twins and Milwaukee Brewers have been resurgent when everyone expected them to be near last place teams.

So what does this mean for us? We will wait a bit longer before making plays on these teams because the value is most likely gone. There are tons of other opportunities though. With a huge daily card, it’s not too hard to catch a line that’s off.

Today, we will focus on three games, the NL East clash between the Nationals and the Mets, the AL West matchup between the Mariners and Rangers, and the Royals visiting the Angels.

MLB Picks Today – June 17, 2017

The New York Mets had a chance to make up ground in the NL East, and did for a while as their rivals slumped, but the Nationals beat them down twice in a row, leaving the Mets in the dust at 10.5 games back trailing the Marlins, and are now set to beat them twice yet again.

Ace Stephen Strasburg (7-2, 3.27 ERA) takes the mound for the Washington Nationals, and is 6-1 with a 1.97 ERA in 8 starts at Citi Field. Against the Mets in general, he is 7-4 with a 2.64 ERA in 13 starts. Countering him is Seth Lugo (1-0, 1.29 ERA). The right hander hasn’t played much since he was put on the DL early in the season, but has earned a win, starting against the Nats last season, allowing only 1 run.

It could be a close game, but Washington should be able to take this. Their bullpen is abysmal, but it should be less of a factor today because Strasburg should go deep. Their bats are hot, so this should be a great spot for them to increase their lead. Take the Washington Nationals.

The Texas Rangers have been red hot as of late, as if you followed them from the beginning of the season, you know they are streaky. They are looking to win their 7th in 8 games on Saturday, and who are we to go against them?

Their AL West rivals, the Mariners will try to quell them with Yovani Gallardo (3-6, 6.11 ERA). He hasn’t been a quality starter this season, but did pick up a win in his last outing. Martin Perez (2-6, 4.56 ERA) hasn’t fared well recently, but his home record against the Mariners is solid, having gone 3-0 with a 2.37 ERA against them.

This game should also be close, but Perez should shut down the Mariners at home. It’s not the best idea to go against the Rangers when they’re playing well. Take them in this spot.

Speaking of hot teams, the Kansas City Royals have won 6 in a row, and their slugging has been incredible over that span. The Angels aren’t faring as well lately, especially against the Royals. Albert Pujols is only 9 for 57 in June, and 2 for 18 against Kansas this season.

Jake Junis (2-0, 4.67 ERA) starts for the Royals, and is riding high after earning his first major league win. Right hander Alex Meyer (2-3, 4.05 ERA) has been playing decently at home. He is 0-2 in his last 4 starts though.

In all honesty, this game could go either way. The main reason we’re taking the Royals in this spot is because of the price. They shouldn’t be dogs here, so take Kansas City here. It’s a line that’s too good to pass up.

If you want a good parlay, let’s add all our picks and hopefully get ourselves a winner here. The payout is +317 at Sports Interaction, so get on this before the line changes!

  • *Washington Nationals (-170)
  • *Texas Rangers (-135)
  • *Kansas City Royals +1.5 (-185)

Stanley Cup 2019 Odds: Tavares & Toronto Favorites?
Toronto will remember July 1st, 2018 not as Canada Day, but Tavares Day, after the pride of Mississauga was liberated from the New York Islanders. This stunning coup solidifies the Leafs top-line talent for the next half-decade, creating a long window of opportunity for Toronto’s long-suffering franchise. The Maple Leafs odds to win the Stanley Cup in 2019 jumped to +700 after the announcement, better than the Lightning, Bruins and Golden Knights. Toronto’s finally positioned as favorites to win their first ring since 1967, despite questions surrounding their blueline and goaltending.
