Manchester City vs Tottenham Odds
This column has started off 2017 RED HOT going 4-0 thus far and earning over 6 UNITS of profit. With momentum on our side we look to pick the winner of Saturday’s late game between two sides heading in opposite directions:
Tottenham are in top form. Sadly if they had started the season like this they would have been playing in the knockout stages in the Champions League and much close to the top of the table in the English Premier League.
As is stands now they are tied for 2nd place with Liverpool but trail Chelsea by 7 points. That being said, they look up to the fight for the long haul. The only bad news for them is the loss of central defender Jan Vertonghen for what looks to be a few months. I, however, think they will be able to carry on despite this setback.
Manchester City, fresh off a 4-0 humiliation at the hands of Everton, get to face the very first team to defeat them this season, and frankly made them look human.
Before Spurs defeated Man City 2-0 at White Hart Lane in October, Man City had gone 10-1-0 in all competitions. Since that defeat, their record is 9-5-6 across all competitions and they have gone from looking like one of Europe’s elite sides to a very inconsistent outfit.
So will it just depends on which Man City side shows up this weekend?
Manchester City vs Tottenham Prediction
Alternatively if you want to take Spurs +0.5 or even +0.25 goals those are also excellent wagers in my opinion. The form that Spurs are in, I don’t believe that even the good Man City will be able to cope.
In fact since their first meeting, Tottenham have only improved while City have faltered. When in form, City’s front 4 of Aguero, Silva, Sterling and De Bruyne can win matches. So the Spurs who boast the Premier League’s best defense and who have only conceded 9 goals in 10 matches away from home, will have to bring their A game.
But the big mismatch in this fixture is when Tottenham attack City’s underperforming back line. Fernandinho, who is still serving his latest suspension, will not be able to protect a defense corps that is low on confidence right now. I’m counting on the Spurs to be clinical and take a couple chances that fall their way.
Man City being the home team will be obliged to take chances and therefore offer their opponents space in which to launch counter attacks. I see the game being won here.
City’s Apathy versus Spur’s Exstacy
If this were the stock market Tottenham’s green arrow would be pointing upwards and all your advisors would be telling you to get in Now. Quite frankly they are dominant at the moment. Can it sustain throughout February when the fixtures pile up? Time will tell.
Manchester City’s red arrow is pointing down and if you bought into them you will be kicking yourself because when the season started they looked like the blue chip stock that would secure your portfolio. Instead their manager is looking more and more like a scolded child who is use to getting everything his way and does not know how to cope when someone tells him “no”. Pep simply wants to take his ball and go home.
