EPL Week 5 Predictions
Premier League Games This Weekend
Now that Stoke ended Manchester United’s winning run and Manchester City were finally able to beat Liverpool, and smash them 5-0 at that, there is no one left in the league with a perfect record. Every team has dropped points and no squad looks invincable; so everybody who is somebody has a right to think the title can be their’s this season. Most notably, the Premier League runner up the past two seasons will be looking to throw their name into the hat.
English Premier League Picks Week 5
Tottenham vs Swansea
Harry Kane doesn’t score in August – if you want proof just look at my fantasy team. But it’s no longer August, Harry Kane is scoring goals and Spurs finally put in a good showing at Wembley midweek by beating a banged up Dortmund side 3-1. Add to that the 3-0 stomping of Everton last weekend at Goodison and Swansea look ripe to get blownout of this one.
Since Swansea rejoined the top flight in the 2011/12 season they have not beaten Tottenham once. As a Franchise they are 0-2-10 and have been outscored 28-11. Simply put, Tottenham own this matchup regardless of the names in the jerseys. It should be of comfort that the names in the Tottenham jerseys are still much better.
If you’ve been following my picks, then you probably feel like I do. Tottenham owe us some money and this Saturday we come to collect.

Chelsea vs Arsenal
If last year’s runners up think that they have unfinished business then what of Chelsea when they line up across Arsenal this Sunday morning September 17th at 8:30am?
Last season Arsenal ruined Chelsea’s perfect ending to Conte’s first season by beating them in the FA Cup final. They then followed that up by beating them in the Community Shield right before this season started. So in summation the last two times Arsenal beat Chelsea, the Blues had to stand and watch the Gunners lift a trophy and pop champagne.
If you think these images hurt Chelsea fans, imagine how they fuel Antonio Conte, a man possessed with winning. And this is a point that I stress over and over again because as a football fan you may not care for certain manager, but as a gambler you need to take stock of a manager’s character as it will ultimately manifest in his team. That is why Arsene Wenger’s apathy and stubborness has led to a decade of pathetic showings in big games.
Arsenal have not won at Stamford Bridge since 2011 and though they will be resting most of their starting lineup when they play Europa League on Thursday, it won’t matter. Chelsea get a margin of revenge on their London rivals.
PICK: Chelsea (-133) available on William Hill
Atletico Madrid vs Malaga
This Saturday Atletico Madrid opens its new stadium, the Wanda Metropolitano. The stadium itself will still be under construction as of Saturday but that won’t stop them from playing a game.
Malaga have only scored 1 goal in 3 La Liga games this season and Atleti have kept 2 straight clean sheets, one of them in Italy where they only conceded 1 shot on target in 90 minutes versus Roma. You can tell where my head is with this one.
PICK: Atletico Madrid to win and keep a clean sheet (-138) available on William Hill
